Yes basketball will go on, but I bet there isn't anyone that will work harder than Rick. If there was a problem he could always be reached and was never hesitant to listen to both sides. Not to mention that I was always glad to see him in the gym with stripes on as a coach. Many officials would be much better if they developed the demeanor that Rick had when blowing the whistle.

Are you sure it was over that? I heard it was because the coaches don't want to let the BBA leave for the region but they still want to scratch? Doesn't seem to make sense that you want your scratches yet they won't even let the officials go out for postseason. Sounds as if the coaches want their cake and to eat it too.

My concern is that some of the younger officials (not only in age but in experience) won't have someone like Rick to guide them and help them become quality officials.

Rick Chasteen is a good man. And he does a great job. I hope he continues as the assigning secretary for a long, long, long time. You always get a fair shake with his guys.

Rick Chasteen like many posts on here has said, is very good at what he does. He is a tremendous asset for officials and schools that are served by the BBA! If he is indeed back as Assigning Secretary than that is absolutely great news!
