I think there are a variety of reasons (with others closer to the situation to answer than me), but things are getting worse before they are getting better:

 

Dunbar's remaining schedule has Trinity, Boyle County, Henry Clay, Scott County, and Madison Central who are all highly ranked in thier respective classes.........to go along with Tates Creek, Lafayette, and Pulaski Southwestern who I assume are all better than Middlesboro.

 

That is a schedule for this team destined for 0-10. I hope they right the ship at Dunbar.

How is LIT ratings done?

 

Schedule strength?? What else?

 

It's a secret Math forumula invented by a guy back in the 30's...he sold the rights to the Courier way back when...I don't know the forumula but I think margin of victory and strength of schedule based on the 6A class system are big factors.

I think Dr. Lit gets pretty accurate toward the end of the season when he has more statistical data to input.

He is a parent and he calls the shots of who gets hired, fired, pretty much everything except for play calling. Dunbar Parents run that place. I dont think I've seen a team go from 8th in 6A to dead last in two weeks but when Parents run the show thats what happens.

You have always been an honest poster on here and if this is accurate, it is a real shame. Parents can help build a program, but can tear one down even faster.

Obviously the Litkenhous had this right, St. X and Trinity 1 an 2. And I'm sure they're as good advertised. That will be our 6A state championship again (Big Surprise). Not taking away from St. X and Trinity, 6A is boring if you aren't from those two schools. They are obviosly head and shoulders above the rest of Jefferson Co. and the state. Why don't they place their programs emphasis on the national scene rather than beating up on sub par instate competition only to recieve a watered down Kentucky State Championship. Any thoughts???

I'm an X fan and parent...couldn't agree with you more. X and T kids put in over 1,000 hours of preperation per year to basically play 2 competitive and meaningful games....each other in the regular season, then again in the playoffs. At least T has Cincy X this year and next year X supposedly is picking up Moeller and/or Cincy X. Most fans and kids would prefer to play on the national scene. As you say, 6A Kentucky football is very watered down.

Stat from the Lexington Herald: Dunbar had minus-73 yards rushing and allowed seven sacks in loss to Middlesboro last week.
