From KNN Al:

Hi gang--it's that time of year for the 2008 KNN High School Scoreboard Show.

We'll again be using your nominees for Player Of The Week, and the official rankings will come from BluegrassPreps.com.

We'll be heard on at least 30 stations around Kentucky, with more on the way. I'll post a full station list as soon as it's finalized.

As always, I'd like for all of you to post the stations in your area that air high school games. We'll use reports from those stations in the show as much as possible. If you know the identity of the announcers that's a bonus.

When nominating a Player Of the Week candidate, please include the players name, school, size, (ht/wt), class, (soph/jr/sr) and position. Then give an accurate listing of the stats he posted that week. Carries, yards, etc.

We'll use all the nominees and give them a mention, and then one will be chosen for POW.

Thanks for all the help in advance, and enjoy the season!

KNN Scoreboard Show

Rees Macshara-5'10" 165lb. Boyle County High School junior RB/DB

Fridays game at Henry Clay he had 17 carries for 166 yds. and two touchdowns. On the defensive side he intercepted a pass on the Henry Clay 30 yard line and ran it down to the 9 yard line to set up anather score.Gets my vote for player of the week!

Bell County's All-state Running Back Spencer Greer had another great game. Against a tough Whitley County line that had soundly shut down Middlesboro in week one, Greer racks up 172 yards on 18 carries and four touchdowns. A Greer highlight was when Bell County's other All-state player, kicker Monte Merrick dropped back to punt for first time this year......and was a fake with Greer taking the direct snap and running nearly fifty yards, out on five...and then punched in for TD.

Miles Simpson of Simon Kenton had 24 carries for 345 yards setting a school record. He also scored all 4 of the Pioneers touchdowns. He had 2 td's of 80 yards and 1 td of 75 yards.

Ricky Bowling, 5-10 175lb Senior QB South Laurel HS completed 23/28 passes, 414 yds passing, 4 TD passes, and 1 TD rushing, also picked off a pass while on defense in South Laurel's 51-29 win over North Laurel.

Hopkinsville Victor Molden #3 WR/DB SR 5-10 183Lbs. Friday nights stats vs Marshall County. 6 receptions for 151 yards 1 td, 2 ints 1TD & kickoff return for 52 yards. For 2 games Victor has arond 300 receiving, 2ints and is averaging around 20 yards on punt returns. He has five straight games with 100 yards receiving.

On a side note Hopkinsville kicker Jim Atkins kick 4 field goals this Friday and broke the school record with a 47 yarder. He has made 7 field goals this season already.

Patrick Van Sant, Covington Catholic High School, 6'2" 195, Sr. As tight end and wide receiver collected 7 catches for 136 yards and as a linebacker/ safety had 13 solo tackles and 3 assists against Newport Central Catholic in a 38-34 victory

Miles Simpson, 345 yds, 4 Tds, 30, 75, 80 and 80. Boone County's RB also deserves consideration.

To add what 2nd and Short said, Hopkinsville's Victor Moulden caught six passes for 154 yards and a TD against Marshall County. He also picked off two passes and returned one 50 yards for a touchdown and had a 71-yard kickoff return that set up another score.

Got them all folks..great list this week!

This week was a tough one, but our KNN Scoreboard/Bluegrass Preps.com Player Of the Week is South Laurel QB Ricky Bowling. Yes...but did he sell popcorn at halftime?

Congrats to you Ricky Bowling!

Sorry I didnt post this earlier. Had a little trouble with my computer. But a guy that I think you guys should watch out for is Ryan Williams(5'9 170lb Sr.)at Clark County. Last week against Harrison County he rushed 17 times for 229 yds and 2 tds. He had 13 carries and 199 yds in the first half(only played one drive in the 2nd half. He also had 23 carries for 245 yds and 2 tds against Montgomery County the previous week. Anybody in the Lexington area should come out and watch GRC play Creek tommorrow.

Well deserved. I have seen him against North Laurel and this was his best performance against South's crosstown rival in his 4 years at the helm. Hats off to Ricky!! :thumb:
