“I was way off,” Marlins reliever Joe Nelson joked. “I had predicted 418.”

This is crazy. When are they going to get rid of baseball in Miami?

^ Well just as bad for the Rays in Tampa. Best record in baseball and they can't draw more than 21,000 fans a game.

The fans that do go are great though, the best game MLB game I've ever been to was at Tropicana Field.

They said it was so quiet, they could hear the players talking.

And yet some people say teams like the Mets and Cubs have the worst fans.....

If you have no fans, they can't really be qualified as "best" or "worst," can they?

I think they have to contract this team. Heck, put a team in Oklahoma City. Why not?

How much money would they lose if they had under 1000 fans for their last 10 or so home games?

You would almost think Rachel Phelps was running the club, but she wanted to move the Indians TO Miami. Where next?

I have been to 2 games in Tropicana Field. The first game was against the Ranger's and it was so pathetic that I could hear a heckler behind home plate trashing every player on the Ranger's team - and I was in the first row of behind the left centerfield fence. I actually felt like I had a chance to catch a homerun ball because there was only 50 people sitting out there. The second game was against the Yankees and there was about 44,000 people at that game. That was a great atmosphere, and the Yankees lost, which was trully awesome. Its sad that a city of that size can't halfway fill the stadium up.

As far as Miami, I don't know what their problems are. That is a big city.

The Yankees farm club is in Tampa so that probably helped get people there.

The bigger reason is that half of Florida's population is retired NYC transplants.

When did you go to the games? New York teams have a large presence of fans in Florida because so many of them retire there. Same with Boston and Chicago teams as well.
