September 3, 200818 yr UGHHHH We are in that position. When it rains it pours. I am not going in to details but I hate it. Stressed all the time recently it makes me sick. Sometimes I ask myself why. Why me and my family, its seems never ending and it hurts. I try not to talk about. Just try to stay positive for my kids.
September 4, 200818 yr Author I dunno it's just been a really stressful run. But yet things have been looking up with this girl I've recently met. Yet every time something can possibly go wrong with that, it does. It's nothing with her, it just is what it is. But I'm hopeful, just had alot of other stuff too, becoming an uncle, getting old, getting ready to graduate from college in the next year or so. Just alot of stuff going on, but yet I'm happy. Maybe happier than I've been in a long while because I can see the progress I'm making and where things are actually starting to come together.
September 4, 200818 yr I didn't read all the posts, but about 12 years ago I went through a lot of life stresses and came to a conclusion that I WON'T stress out about that with which I have no control. That mindset has given me a lot of peace in this last decade of "questionable calls" bu the refs if you know what I mean.
September 4, 200818 yr The Bible tells us that God will not allow anything on us that with Him we cannot handle. I just wish he wouldn't have so much faith in me at times.
September 4, 200818 yr It sure does.. Last week. Little Cousin tears his mcl.. Saturday. Little brother breaks his arm in two spots Monday. Great grandma falls and breaks her hip. She's 91, probably won't make it. Wednesday. Step dad's brother wrecks his bike and is in the hospital. Just got to keep thinking that things will get better eventually.
September 4, 200818 yr If you ever come to a point where you think your life couldn't possibly suck any more than it does...guess again. It's at times like that God often hands us another burden, if only to show us how blessed we were. Things can always get worse. And there will always be someone who is worse off than you in some way--or many ways. You have to take the time to count your blessings. There are so many of them, if you just take the time to look. Can you see? Can you hear? Can you smell the rain? Can you type on that keyboard in front of you with all of your fingers? Can you get up out of bed? We all have so many things to be thankful for. If you're going through hard times, you have to live for today, while still holding onto hope for the future. When things are at their most grim, don't concern yourself with next year; worry about this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow. Take joy in the tiniest pleasures in life, and celebrate the smallest accomplishments. But as easily as things can get worse, they can also get better. You may think there's no hope for you--but there is. Search for purpose in your trials. It's there if you take the time to look. And when you can, turn that purpose into positive action. Above all...have faith. :thumb:
September 4, 200818 yr Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on. In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on. See a reoccurring theme with these quotes? I highly recommend reading "The Art of Happiness" by the Dalai Lama if you ever get the chance. You just have to find the right mindset to not let stuff eat away at you, life goes on so there's no point in dwelling on the bad stuff. Surround yourself with good family and friends and that will make all the difference in the world.
September 4, 200818 yr For me once, it literally rained and poured. Everyone in NKY knows about the Falmouth Flood.....let me tell you my testimony. ON the Friday AFTER the flood, it was the first day we were allowed back into Falmouth to see our homes. At noon, I am in line in my car waiting to get into town. I am by myself because my wife is at the doctor's office with our 6 month old son. Doctor says his temp goes up one more degree and they are putting him in the hospital. I go into Falmouth to see my home a mess. An absolute mess. At 2:00 we were sitting in the parking lot of the funeral home in Grants Lick getting ready to attend the funeral of my wife's grandfather who had lost his life in the flood. Before we went in, we listened to the first half of my varsity basketball team playing Harrison County in the regional tournament. I obviously was not able to attend. I was supposed to be Louisville with 40 students at a DECA conference but we had to cancel out of that. Only time in a 5 year run that we didn't have the most kids in KY qualify for the national DECA conference. At 6:00 pm, my dad got a pacemaker installed. That was ALL ON FRIDAY. But the Lord takes care. On Saturday, a church from Florence that did not know me and I didn't know them, showed up at my house and asked if they could shovel mud. They drove past about 50 homes and the driver of the van said a voice told him that my house was the house to stop at. I NEVER had to shovel one shovel full of mud. My son's temp went down and he is a very healthy 11 year old boy. My dad ended up with a heart transplant and feels better than he has in 30 years. The doctors said it was a miracle he got a heart as fast as he did. YES it was. We lost the basketball game but I still took a group of students to Nationals and we hung out in Tijuana Mexico since we were not competing. In the story of Footprints, there was only one set of footprints and my big fat butt was being carried by God at that time of my life.
September 4, 200818 yr I can't imagine it's appropriate to post the video here, but I read this thread and start thinking about the ending to Life of Brian. Always look on the bright side of life....
