Henry Co. 40 Ludlow 0

Featured Replies

Henry County started slow offensively, but the 2nd half was better.

Henry Co 's all-state candidate, Eric Butler did not dress, but the defense was able to get a score and produce a shut out.

Ludlow is a solid team, and they have a tough bunch of kids, so this was a good victory for the wildcats.

Henry County is a very solid football team. The Panthers were manhandled tonight, but I'm also very proud of the fact that I didn't see any quit in this team. I look for a big bounce back next week against Carroll County in the home opener.

Hat's off to Ludlow. They did not quit and this will pay dividends later in the season. Henry County offense sputtered in the first half then caught fire. HC defense strong from the get go. Two interceptions and three fumble recoveries, one score. Defense allowed a total of 55 yards offense. I'd say the Panther q.b. is a bit sore this morning. Erick Butler returns to this smothering defense next week. Luke Magness had 259 yards passing in his first varsity start. Matt Long was the bowl player of the game. Nice crowd for an opener. Good luck to the Ludlow Panthers the rest of the way. Cats off and running at 1-0. Trimble county comes to "The Hill" next week. We haven't forgotten last season when you tried to put one in on us with 11 seconds left, and also your sideline shenanigans. Lets go watch the Cats beat the Cards Percy.

So, is Butler back?

Sullivan's arm and legs will give Henry problems.

First, Congratulations to Henry County on the win. It sure feels nice to start the season out in the "W" column.

Ol #70, don't you think on numbers alone that you SHOULD beat Trimble County? You have, what, about 60 players compared to Trimble's 29? You have a completely separate offensive and defensive team.

As far as things that happened in the past, last year wasn't the first meeting between the two teams and I can remember quite a few unpleasantries prior to last year. What I do remember last year was our JV in at the end of the game (except for QB) and them wanting to score, but our QB taking a knee. If we had wanted to score, why did we not put Bird in?

I'm sure Ludlow was very happy about that 45 yard fade you attempted against them last night, up 33-0, with 4:00 to go!!!;)

I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet you last night. I ended up a little busy after our game. Good luck to your Panthers the rest of the season! :thumb:

Not a problem at all. Good luck to you all next week and for the season also.

How did Montooth play?

So where did Yancey play if he wasnt at QB?

T B & G, Now you know numbers alone is no guarantee of a win. No one who knows sports will agree to that. You beat us last year as did Pendleton Co. who dressed 18 or 19. I can't apologize for Henry Co. because they have several players out. I thought that was the idea. Get 'em interested and get 'em out. Still just play with eleven at a time. Lookin' forward to it Friday night when you come to "The Hill".

Yancey played WR.

He had a couple of catches.

Magness did well not great at QB, but the soph. will only get better. The play calling and penalties did not help Magness.

I was at the game and thought that both teams put forth a great effort. Henry was physical throughout the game and Ludlow kept trying to find a rhythm. From the sidelines the playcalling wasn't the issue, just execution on both sides: dropped balls, missed blocks and tackles. I feel that both teams will improve as the season goes on.

Are you talking about both sidelines?

Are you talking about both sidelines?

I have seen Henry Co. play before, so I know what they run. I have Ludlow play three times, so I do not know there schemes and such. From my point of view, play calling wasn't the issue because I saw a lot of poor execution. If the execution was there, the playcalling would have seemed to "help" better.
