I'm a diehard NCC fan but to have no coverage at all for the Bellevue / Newport game was ridiculous . That was the reason for post #11.

Newport made some mistakes throughout this game and I believe that is what cost them the game. IMO Newport needs to reevaluate their special teams and the corners on defense. Now, I did see #27 make some good plays and #12 (Price) was always around the ball. There were some opportunities that #13 (QB) had some recievers open and didn't connect or see them but hopefully this will improve. Newport's defensive front idn;t play to bad other than I believe that Bellevue just wore them out with the running game. Bellevue produced an amazing running game and never stopped - you hane to commend them for sticking with their game play - a lot of running with some old familar plays.

Bellevue has always had the tradition of running Slam right, Slam left, Fullback Buck and they may mixed in a rare Slam Pass. Eckstein comes from the tutilege of Owen Hauck who always focused on the Run. I actually think the personell fits for a run oriented offense. With a new QB Bellevue should keep it simple atleast through the first few games.

 

Any stats on Buckler/Barrett running combo. Scoring summary since the Enquirer could careless?

The point is that This game was the first one of a doubleheader . It was held at Newports home stadium . If they could have a writer and photographer there for the 8:30 NCC / Simon Kenton game surely they could have had a writer and photographer there at 6:00 for the Newport / Bellevue contest .:madman: The Enquirer fumbled the ball on this one . Like KillerCats said bring the POST back or have the Enquirer hire Terry Boemker for Ky Sports ,

This should answer your question. Looks like they have several. 18 to be exact and that is huge. I cant remember when a Bellevue team had that many.

# 27 Kim should be returning kicks he has good speed. # 13 Collins learning curve he should get better with time. With all the turn overs Newport had the defence was on the field all night and they gave the Tigers great field position. It could be another long year for the Cats.

Sorry to hear about the Wildcats loss. Who did the scoring for Bellevue & Newport? How many passes did Newport complete for how many yards?

 

Short scored for Newport, Buckler scored twice and Barrett scored once for Bellevue all was running plays. Passing for Newport I don't know how many was completed for how many yards ,Collins still is learning the position he ran with the ball a lot.

I was very upset as a Bellevue Alum to open the paper and have to read about CovCath getting blown out by Cardinal Mooney. I m sure everyone in NKY really wants to read about that. No coverage of the Bellevue game is ridiculous. I am going to make sure Ryan Ernst hears about this. Absolutely ridiculous.

 

This was a great thread all week and a very important game for both schools. Newport primarily to get off to a good start and forget about last year and Bellevue to see if last year's win was a fluke or not. Bellevue coming off an impressive end of the year run last season looks to be very solid.

 

I had to drive by the field and ask a kid walking home for a score last night and was hoping to get some stats and interviews in the paper.

 

If any of the Cats/Tiger faithful have info please post.

The Enquirer has not been good to the Northern KY teams for quite some time. I long for the old days of the Post. Use to be that on a Saturday morning you could open up the paper and find all kinds of articles and pictures of all the games in the area. KY Post where are you? Come back!
