Rezko Reality: McCain misfires as he attacks Obama's home purchase

Featured Replies

Rezko contributed to the campaigns of dozens of candidates, Republican and Democrat. It's being suggested (by failing to mention this fact) that Rezko only contributed to Obama's campaign, possibly in expectation of a quid pro quo benefit. Although Rezko's donations were overwhelmingly to Democratic candidates (I believe Illinois has predominantly Democrat-dominated state offices), some notable Republican recipients of campaign contributions were George W. Bush, Tom Campbell (U.S. Senate candidate, California), Spencer Abraham (U.S. Senate candidate, Michigan), and Rick Lazio (U.S. House, New York).

I didn't suggest anything. HB20 said he couldn't find evidence that Rezko supported BHO finacially. I showed evidence he had. Next...

I will agree that Corsi is a first class wacko though.

Once again, Obama was a close friend of Rezko and Rezko was one of Obama's biggest financial supporters. Rezko was under investigation by a grand jury at the time of the suspicious real estate deal and Obama said that it was a "boneheaded" decision.

Obama is not on trial (at least not yet) - he is in a political campaign. "Where there is smoke there is fire" is not enough to convict a person in a criminal trial but it is certainly reasonable to smell the air and look for a fire before casting your vote.

Isn't Palin under federal investigation as well? Is she automatically guilty? It can't be a democratic conspiracy this time to smear her since no one had ever heard of her until today.

Obama's campaign has issued a 41 page response to the Corsi book. It is on his website here. It is quite detailed, refuting dozens of claims and statements made in Corsi's book with statements which are dated and available in the public record. Obama also makes a point of listing numerous factual errors in the book, suggesting it was not very carefully written.

As for the crackpot references, be your own judge. He seems to have a conspiracy fetish. Corsi is on record claiming that President Bush is trying to merge the United States, Canada, and Mexico and create a universal currency called the "Amero". Corsi has also claimed that the World Trade Center towers were felled not by the jet-fuel-fed fires that weakened their steel structure but by explosives inside the buildings. He is also on the record making inflammatory remarks about Catholics, Muslims, Jews and he has interesting theories about how oil is created within the earth. It has been reported that even the Swift Boat Veterans group sought to distance themselves from Corsi after his fringe views became apparent.

Nice job of regurgitating Obama talking points. As I said, the Obama campaign is waging personal attacks on Obama's critics and addressing very few of the legitimate issues that they raised. Democrats and the mainstream media have done a pretty good job of smearing Jerome Corsi and other critics but where can I find the complete military record that John Kerry promised to release to the public?

No.

She is under a state investigation because a member of her staff/or her husband asked the state police commissioner to fire her ex-brother-in-law who had beat her sister and tasered her 11-year old nephew.

There will be women who would drive to Alaska to taser this guy themselves.

What difference does it make how much money convicted felon Tony Rezko donated to politicians other than Barack Obama? The only other major candidate running for president is John McCain and I do not believe that McCain took any Rezko cash. Rezko's contributions to other politicians are irrelevant to the discussion about Obama.

Obama surfaces in Rekzo's federal corruption case

Source confirmed Obama is the unnamed "political candidate" referred to in document which outlines case against Rezko

Rezko is one of Obama’s earliest political patrons. Long known as a prolific fund-raiser, the Syrian-born businessman helped raise money for Obama’s political campaigns beginning in 1995, when Obama was running for the Illinois Senate.

In 13 years in politics, Obama has gotten at least $168,000 in campaign donations from Rezko, his family and business associates. The Sun-Times reported that figure last June. Obama’s “best estimate” seven months earlier had been that Rezko had raised no more than $60,000 for him.

As I said, Obama accepted more than $160,000 from Rezko, understated the contributions, before evenutally admitting to accepting far more.

 What are you talking about now? Twenty-nine of the forty-one pages in the document are devoted to responding to the claims in the book. Most of the rest summarizes some of Corsi's "interesting" views on a variety of topics. If you hold the same views as Corsi, I guess you wouldn't consider him a nutcase...

Try reading Corsi's books and then doing some research yourself instead of repeating the personal attacks that Obama's political operatives have made against him. I prefer doing my own book reviews to having somebody else put words in my mouth by citing a review of a book that I have not read.

I always used Cliff Notes in college.:D

I confess that I used them as well but I always at least skimmed the book itself. However, I do not recall any Cliff Notes referring to an author as a "crackpot" to discredit the contents of the book.

You know what was better than cliff notes.

Going to the dorm of one of the cute girls in class and having her tell you all she knew about the book the night before the test.:D

There are 29 pages of factual problems in Mr. Corsi's latest book. He didn't even get the year when the Obamas were married right. How do you screw that up? It's a matter of public record! If this clown couldn't do a simple public records search correctly, how can you place any faith in his more complex and less provable assertions?

Corsi's beliefs regarding a possible 9/11 conspiracy, his bigotted statements about various religions, his ideas about the formation of oil within the earth, his claim that Bush is trying to merge the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are well documented. It's pretty hard to overlook so many crackpot ideas coming from one person. I certainly wouldn't waste my time reading such tripe.

Yet you read the half truths and innuendo spread by Obama's campaign and are silent about that campaign's efforts to intimidate broadcasters who allow Obama's critics to voice their opinions and allegations.

Sounds like he's crazy to me...

He's pretty wacko alright but I can't say whether or not Obama Nation is factual. And I guarantee you I wouldn't trust what Obama's campaign. If I was skeptical I would research it myself. But as it stands I won't read the book as I don't need to.
