That is great my point in this is that who cares both teams are 0-0 and they didn't play in a real game I wish them the best I don't have a dog in this fight just trying to let you know that scrimmages don't mean anything to most team. I wish JC the best lets start a new thread about something esle I believe this one is finished.:thumb:

 

I agree with you scrimmages don't mean nothing but I do take offense to the phrase playing games like it's a state championship. To me it sounds like a crutch for a team that got outplayed no matter what team it is and it's a knock on the team that came out and played the game they way it should be played. I agree we've beat this one to death and let's move on. Best of luck to Bell County this year.

No that's how we do things at JC. We play with the same intensity whether it's a game or a scrimmage. If by saying that you thought we were playing for a state championship last Friday night makes you feel any better then go ahead a say it but I would say that it's just a crutch/excuse to make you fell better. I guess giving up almost 400 rushing yards on defense would do that to you. Oh and by the way before you say that stat that I gave you was bogus I just wanted to tell you that it came from Coach Greer himself. The game must of been important to the Bell County coaching staff to be keeping stats in a scrimmage game. We don't even do that.

 

Not making excuses...but Simpson, who we previously stated was sitting out due to injury, is a 4-year starter at LB and the heart of the run prevent defense. Bell really missed him. Also Carton, another punishing defender....out with broken hand. Both will play Friday evening. Bell is not same team without these two on D.

I am not saying that Johnson Central does not do this either, but in scrimmages Bell runs about 7 or 8 plays the whole game and keeps things simple on defense. They may not have done this Friday night, but that is typically what they do. I remember hearing a stat that since Coach Hilton has been at Bell Co. that Clay Co. is like 3-1 against us in scrimmages. And we are like 10-0 against them in the regular season. I am not 100% on the numbers, but its something like that. I am sure Johnson Central has a great football team, and who knows, maybe better than Bell Co, but I wouldn't be hanging my hat this season on what happened in a scrimmage.

Can you please elaborate for us, just who these starters that are hold backs are? if my memory is serving me correctly, theres not many at all that are hold backs. and if you honestly want to get into this discussion, what school doesn't have some kids whose stayed in grade school an extra year in their starting line up? and by saying larger schools, more athletes, Belfry has been a 2A school up until last year, IMO they've had some incredible athletes, probably more than Bell Co. it's just that coach Hilton always gets the absolute most out of his boys. Also, sir, Bell County isn't that much of a larger school than Middlesboro, the Jackets probably should be border line 4A, and to push facts further, I've never once heard Bell County players, coaches, or fans say teams have no talented athletes, so this leads me to believe, their actually was a Bell County T-shirt thats coming to mind right now, stating, I believe, "Don't hate us, cause you 'Ain't us":sssh:

They are an enrollment in that classification, it would be hard to make an argument that their enrollment would suddenly put them 2 classes above where they currently are.

:eek: Sorry about that, huge mistake on my part. I was thinking Middlesboro was classified 3A with the re-alignment, my mistake, sorry. The point I was trying to get across, for someone to say that Bell Co. "picks on" smaller schools or to insinuate that we think we are superior or have more athletes than smaller schools is absurd. Never once have I personally heard coach Hilton say Bell Co. is the most athletic school in the area, or that we have more athletes than smaller schools, nor have I heard many Bell Co. fans say this. Coach Hilton himself on several occasions has said that the Bobcats aren't ever the most athletically gifted players in the state, not the fastest, strongest, and doesn't have the futures in football other athletes do, just that Bell Co. plays with heart and pride, and leaves everything on the field. It's not about who has the most athletes, its a team effort. I have never heard, or seen anyone associated with the Bell Co. team say that smaller schools have no athletes. No idea where this came from. But, back onto subject, the JC scrimmage, don't read to much into this. Bell Co. does NOT take scrimmages as serious as other teams, coach Hilton by any means doesn't want his players to end up seriously injured in a meaningless game, I stated before this took place, not to expect to see whats in the Bell Co. arsenal, and firmly believe that we didn't reveal to much of what we have.
