Mark 16:15..."And he (Jesus) said unto them, go through out the world and preach the good news to a creaton. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever doesn't believe will be condemed.

"And these signs will accompany those who believe; in my name they will drive out demons, (do we do thay today?) they will speak in new tongues (do we do that?) ( I can't speak the gospel In German), and they will pick up snakes with their hands (Ladies Hoe), and when they drink deadly poison it will not hurt them ( it would hurt me), and they will heal sick people and make them well...(cannot happened like the other things mentioned) need a doctor and time."

These were for the Disciples in their time and they had Jesus's blessing. Man doesn't have those gifts now.

Paul got bitten by a snake and felt no ill effects.

I too believe that the Disciples had different gifts than what we need today.

Devil: We can't scare or torture this guy, he's been married.

Well now and Gooch and I have a connection. I wished she was silent in church when she said "I Do" because she didn't. (This will be our last connection too :scared:)

Why does it have to be our last?

Mark it down..Gooch and LBBC have made a connection.
Now there has got to be something in the Bible about this happening...most likely in Revelations.

Fan, what does the Bible say? There are written words in the Bible where woman had main roles that men wasn't used and they weren't "silent".

A woman shouldn't be a Pastor, Elder, Deacon or teach men as a leader. Scripture not me.

She can give testimony, pray, sing solo (my wife), Hollar out AMEN, ask for prayers, and say "I do".

Need to reread the Timothy passages again and examine the Greek usage of the feminine. You might be surprised to see there might be as much you as scripture in that decision Larry. :thumb:

I even posted this in our other Women's Thread some time back. It notes the authoriative roles some women played in the scripture:

I've done some more digging in the apostolic mentions in scripture and came up with something interesting.

In Romans 16:7, most translations say:

Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsfolk and fellow prisoners, who are outstanding among the apostles . . .

The name Junia is interesting. Professor Don Williams wrote and interesting note about this name in a book I was reading. I cross referenced and found such scholars as James D.G. Dunn (Word Biblical Commentary) and C.K. Barrett in Black's NT Commentary support it.

The Greek accusative Iounian in Romans 16:7 belongs more likely to the feminine "Junia" and not the contraction of the masculine "Junianus." Junia is a woman's name and Junias would be the male form of the name. It is usually accented to denote the two but there was unlikely and accent in the early and original manuscripts. So how can we say it's a feminine name?

Because in ancient Greek manuscripts there is no record anywhere (secular or religious documents) that there is a the masculine form of that name used. It does appear over 250 times (according to scholar Lampe) in the feminine reference to a woman in other writings.

So if this is a reference to a male person it is the only such known reference of that man and the masculine of that name in ancient Greek writings. In fact early church fathers such as: Origen (158-253 AD) and Jerome (340-419) understood the name as feminine. (See "Slavery, Sabbath and War and Women by Willard Swartley. Copyright 1983)

How did it get a male identification if it were actually female? Probably male assumption among the scholars of the centuries led by Luther in the 16th Century.

Gooch, just a feeling I have with our history, but its really your choice. I love you man, but I love all you. Feel like I'm Dorothy.

It is old testament...Which means that you will probably dismiss it...

I thought it was in the gospel of Mark.

As the first post said, there was a problem with the order of worship and the Scripture was a culturally reference to that society at that time. I believe it was a letter written to a specific church and how they were conducting their worship.

The permanent nature of the Scripture as the context and complete Scripture points out is that our worship time needs to be in some form of orderly format.

That said, yeah, I do.

Jesus picked no females to serve as his 12 apostles. WHY?

I have no clue.

But he did not pick any females. Jesus was about rocking the religious boat if he wanted to do what he felt was the way things should be done. But he did not pick any females as his 12 apostles. WHY?

That said, women have a MAJOR ROLE in the Christian church. It is an EQUAL ROLE to whatever a man might be doing. It might not be the SAME ROLE, but it is equal in importance and vital to the success of Christ's church.

Seperate but equal?

Is a coach's role on the team separate but equal in importance to the players' role?

I was just using the language of the Jim Crow laws struck down in the ruling of Brown v. Board of Education for the sake of inciting more arguments here. :D:lol:

I have no dog in this fight, just poking with a stick to get more fight.
