Big Time Trades

Featured Replies

A lot of bigger names seem to be on the move this year...

Ivan Rodriquez

Xavier Nady

Ken Griffey Jr.

Mark Texiera

CC Sabbathia

Rich Harden

Joe Blanton

and the possibility of

Manny Ramierz

Jason Bay

Adam Dunn

I can't remember a year where there has been this many big names moved at the deadline...Can anyone else?

Sport's Illustrated's Jon Heyman is reporting that Manny will OK a deal to the Marlins. Looks like Manny will be Manny in Florida.

I'm pretty pumped about that deal. I think Bay is still on the upswing of his career and will be a welcome change in Boston.

Open Letter to Minnesota Twins GM Bill Smith:

Dear Sir,

It's frustrating to be a Twins fan sometimes. Now I understand that we have never had a lot of money and so guys like David Ortiz and Johan Santana will always leave us sooner or later, but I'm a little anxious today. Almost every year for just under a decade, we've been a contender when the trade deadline comes around. And every year, we never make a deal. I'd like that to change, please. I understand that the Mariners are asking too much for Beltre and that the Orioles took Brian Roberts of the table, but just DO SOMETHING FOR ONCE!!!

Love,

Getslow

P.S. I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together.

I don't think we'll see any more big deals today...

The Manny deal is dead.

Look for Livan Hernandez to be moved in the next hour, imo. They need room for Liriano and he is just not producing.

Why?

Why?

Because the deal would require the BoSox to include prospects as well as Manny Ramirez and the $7 million remaining on his 2008 salary, the Sox appear unwilling to pay that much.

The Dodgers have entered the mix to get Manny.

I agree with the Sox then, if I were to give up a hitter of Manny's caliber to get a lesser hitter in Bay, I want prospects in the deal as well, I would not want to give up prospects as well.

The Red Sox are now talking to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers have offered young outfielder Andre Ethier, but Boston prefer Matt Kemp.

I would take Ethier over Kemp.

I'd think they'd clear out Boof before dealing Livan. Boof is only 26 and still has an upside... maybe a new group of coaches can bring it out of him.
