July 24, 200818 yr He didn't have the hits and RBI production, but his on base percentage was still good because of the walks. Fact is, he is a presence even if he is not hitting. Pitchers fear his home runs and will give others pitches to hit so they are not on base when he comes up. I'm not sure I understand your last sentence? So 10 RBIs in April, and 12 in June are satisfactory if he has above a .340 OBP? I'm not sure the .161 batting avg in June is something to overlook either. BTW not blaming him, but the team had losing records in those two months, and winning records in the two months he was hot. Again, can this club win with this sort of inconsistency from their number 1 producer?
July 24, 200818 yr First in HR, 8th in OPS, 11 in RBI's, 11 in OB% and we want to get rid of him??? Cincy fans are too obsessed with BA, he produces runs, that's what we need... He doesn't do it consistently. Is that what "we" need?
July 24, 200818 yr He has put up the same numbers for the last 4 years. Pretty consistent IMO. So you're saying he consistent at the plate? Have you looked at his numbers this year, month by month? It's feast or famine for Adam Dunn. The question no one has answered is, can they win with their number 1 run producer disappearing a month at a time? Why will no one answer this? It's either yes or no.
July 24, 200818 yr Yes they can. He gets hot and cold just like everyone else in baseball. So if we were to go and check stats of the star players, they all have disappeared half of the season? BTW thanks for answering. My answer is no as the team is now.
July 24, 200818 yr For the last time and I will never ever ever ever respond to this again. ADAM DUNN IS NOT THE REASON THIS TEAM ISN'T WINNING. It isn't this year or last year or the year before that.
July 24, 200818 yr For the last time and I will never ever ever ever respond to this again. ADAM DUNN IS NOT THE REASON THIS TEAM ISN'T WINNING. It isn't this year or last year or the year before that. Couldn't have said it better myself.
July 24, 200818 yr For the last time and I will never ever ever ever respond to this again. ADAM DUNN IS NOT THE REASON THIS TEAM ISN'T WINNING. It isn't this year or last year or the year before that. But he gets plenty of kudos when they are winning. I said in an earlier post that I am not blaming him totally, but is ironic they have a winning record in May and July, and losing in April and June. I do agree though that usually it's the pitching that is mostly responsible and the fact that they have had some pretty miserable players on the roster. I do think Dunn's hurts this team when he is not producing. Which has been 2 out of 4 months this season. I would also be interested in hearing from you what you think they need to do to put a winner on the field that includes Dunn.
July 24, 200818 yr Couldn't have said it better myself. So you think it's ok that he goes crazy for a month and then tanks for a month? A month is a long time to not produce.
July 25, 200818 yr Team BA: April .261 May .263 June .218 July .267 Dunner was 2nd on the team in RBI's in June also.
July 25, 200818 yr Look at Chase Utley or Ryan Howard. Give you Howard. I don't see anything remotely close to .161 avg in Utleys monthly splits.
July 25, 200818 yr Team BA: April .261 May .263 June .218 July .267 Dunner was 2nd on the team in RBI's in June also. Even more reason they can't afford for him to tank. How many RBIs did he have in June? So that makes him what? Tallest of the midgets.
