Another thread on tattoos so lets start on what I think is an absurd practice. Body piercing. I don't understand the appeal. I do not like male ear piercing at all and women with multiple holes in their ears just look odd to me. I see someone with a stud through their lip and I want to reach for a claw hammer and pull it out. I see someone that can't speak clearly because of a tongue piercing and I laugh. I see someone with a nose piercing and I wonder if snot shoots out the hole when they blow. Other parts that can't be discussed here just leave me shaking my head.

 

Someone help me out here. What's the appeal.

 

It makes mommy and/or daddy angry.

 

Or in some cases, they just feel like it... I've never had a piercing, but I do think some they work for some people (and don't work for others... unfortunately you usually can't tell until it's/they're there).

And usually work at your local fast food restaurant.

I don't see the appeal, either. And would someone please explain the whole ear stretching thing please? Does it go back without plastic surgery?

Honestly I got mine done because my parents wouldn't let me at first and I kept them in for a while. I wear them sometimes but not to often.

The only thing I know about piercings was from a bad night drinking adult beverages in college. Not such a good idea....

I have only one piercing, in my left ear, and several tats as I have mentioned in the other thread.

 

My question is this: Do you judge someone automatically because of the piercing/tattoo factor? I noticed that one person mentioned that everyone with tattoos and/or piercings seem to work in fast food. Why do you think this way? Just because someone chooses to accesorize their body with jewelry or ink doesn't mean that they are of lower standards than the rest of the general public. If I took my earring out, and dressed in just jeans and a short-sleeved shirt, no one could even tell that I had any ink. Would your opinion of me change once you saw my body art? If it did, I think that is a sad state of affairs.

 

Someone on here once stated that the only difference betweened tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that we don't judge the unmarked. I couldn't agree more.

IMO, first impressions tend to go a long way whether you have ink, piercings, or anything. When meeting someone for the first time appearances is the very 1st thing noticed. It's wrong to "judge" a person based on the way they look but....it happens. Not sure why?? I think what is accepted as normal is gradually changing...personally I tend to think differently of people with the matted/dread grunge hair. Is it any different?
