July 10, 200818 yr Regarding your truck, be prepared to be shocked at what you're offered for your truck especially if its a big truck. Most dealers don't even want them on their lot. How much are you looking to get for your truck? The dealership I'm going to has been advertising that they pay out the highest in the area for "gas guzzlers." A buddy of mine just traded in his Tahoe there and got 9000 out of it. Same year, mine has lower miles and a few more options than his had. His blue booked for like 14, mine was around 16. I'd take 10000 for it in a heart beat.

Some dealers will appeal to your emotions by giving you more for your trade than its really worth only to jack up the sale price. My advice is to have an idea of how much you are willing to pay for the car by itself. Subtract any cash down you want to use. THEN factor in your trade and what you expect to get for it vs what you owe on it (if anything). The net result of that is what you should work off of. Lastly, be aware that the books you access are not necessarily reflective of what a dealer will be willing to pay. They are very sensitive to what these trucks are going for at wholesale auctions this week. May I ask who the dealer is you referenced?

I've seen a ton of ads in the paper and radio about their high trade in cash because of their "over seas market" I know, it's all a bunch of bull, but I've had my eye on a few hondas and nissans over the past couple of months so this is where I'll be going. I was just estimating what I would get out of mine from what my buddy got out of his. I'm basically going to tell them what I can afford monthly and let them do the rest.
July 10, 200818 yr I'm basically going to tell them what I can afford monthly and let them do the rest. Oooh. That's not a good way to go about it. Get an idea from your bank as to what interest rate you qualify for. Come up with an educated guess as to what the final number is on the following: Price you'd pay for the car -cash you're going to put down - what you are willing to take for your truck + what you still owe on the truck Estimate 6% sales tax on the cash price plus add in about $200 or so for fees. That's how much you expect to finance. Take the rate your bank gave you and figure out what your monthly payment would be at the term for that rate. Otherwise, you may be giving up a lot of money. Dealers are in the business to make money (as they should be) but you want to at least have a good basis for what to expect. If you say you want to "be around $300 per month" but have no basis for it, you may end up paying too much.

I'm down to Altimas, Maximas, Civics and I test drove a Jeep Patriot that I liked.
July 10, 200818 yr I have a nice red bird on the front, and they wave AND smile. They're laughing at you. You know that right? And that isn't a wave...they're pointing at the funny looking creature on your license plate.
July 10, 200818 yr You paid $24 g's for a 4 year old Maxima? Times have changed dramatically...........................
July 10, 200818 yr Author They're laughing at you. You know that right? And that isn't a wave...they're pointing at the funny looking creature on your license plate. Even when their phone number is on their hand?

July 10, 200818 yr I'm down to Altimas, Maximas, Civics and I test drove a Jeep Patriot that I liked. Altimas are good cars. Bought one for the wife to drive to work. If you get the 2.5 it will get over 30 MPG on the highway.
July 10, 200818 yr It's been a long time coming, but I finally got my new ride about two weeks ago. Had to crop the picture so it would fit, that's why it's so small. Looks BLUE to me!!!:scared:
