July 6, 200818 yr I saw this on Sportscenter today about a Bradley soccer player who passed out in his room only to die when his roommates/teammates shot bottle rockets under his door which caused a fire. Players plead out to a lesser crime and are getting out of jail in July. Bradley has said they are not only not welcome to join the team but they are also not welcome back to the university. Thoughts? Agree?
July 7, 200818 yr Circle this day on the calendar - UKMustangFan and mcpapa agree! :dancingpa :dancingpa What can I say, my political views aren't necessarily widely accepted.
July 7, 200818 yr A prank turns out so badly, I doubt any of this kids wanted to kill that kid Agree. Should have thought of the consequences before they shot the bottle rockets. I agree that they shouldn't be allowed to come back.
July 7, 200818 yr Bad situation that definitely was a mistake. I support Bradley's decision, but feel for the kids as well. They lost a friend & a teammate due to something stupid.
July 7, 200818 yr Seems like this was nothing but a prank that went bad. I'm not really sure how I feel about the decision to not allow the kids to come back to school by Bradley. Having to live the rest of their lives knowing the killed a friend is punishment enough.
July 7, 200818 yr Author Good students. Made a mistake. Paid their fines and did their time. Why not let them come back and turn their lives around?
July 7, 200818 yr Author I should add that the deceased was not completely innocent in this. When you drink enough to pass out, you're complicit, right?

July 7, 200818 yr Author I'd have to disagree here. How is he not innocent? Where does his guilt lie? He drank so much alcohol that he was incapable of helping himself. His friends tried to get him out of the room but he locked the door and passed out. They could not get him to wake up. He could have survived. How is he not partially at fault?

They could not get him to wake up. He could have survived. How is he not partially at fault? He didn't light the bottle rockets. He went into his room. He did what any of us would do. He locked the door so nobody would bother him so he could sleep it off. How does he have any responsibility here? Although I agree it would have been great if he could have got out of there with his life and his friends would have only been charged with arson. I'm sorry, I don't see how you could say he's in any shape or form responsible.
July 7, 200818 yr Author Also don't forget that they only had to serve 6 months so they weren't charged with a very serious crime. If they prosecutor agreed to only 6 months, he/she must not have felt very strong about their case. Maybe there's more to it than we know.
