Yes it is. But I seriously doubt it's very close. I don't think anyone really believes McCain wants terrorists to attack America. But there are a lot of people in this country that believe Obama is a terrorist Muslim :lol:.

 

Sadly this is true. I was talking to WWII vet and you wouldn't believe some of the names he was calling Obama. Saying McCane wants another attack is about as stupid as Rush Limbaugh saying after 9-11 that Clinton wished this attack had happened while he was president.

I have absolutely no doubt that many Republicans in Congress and elsewhere(including internet forums) would be willing to face another terrorist attack on the order of 9/11, just to keep Barack Obama out of the Oval Office. They will vehemently say otherwise, but it is true. Their fear and disgust of an Obama White House is strong enough to manifest such views. Sadly, politics trumps national security in the minds of many.

Not all...but some...you bet your bottom dollar. If they believed strongly enough that this would help their partisan ambitions, there are some that wouldn't want the war to go particularly well.

I have heard that many, many times. Accurate or not, we are told this over and over. Example:

 

Do you believe there is any realistic possibility Democrats will rejoice at the news, applaud the efforts of our troops and retreat from their demands that we begin immediate troop withdrawal? (Their reaction to the surge's success so far give us some clues, does it not?)

If I am correct that they will not -- and I would be most happy to be wrong -- why do you think that is?

One major reason, of course, is that they cannot stand President Bush nor bear the prospect of history vindicating his stubborn determination. They have staked the last four years on discrediting him on Iraq and know that history cannot vindicate him without repudiating them.

Their repudiation would decrease their chances of electoral victory in 2008. Can you imagine all the capital they will have wasted on their efforts to destroy President Bush and undermine our mission in Iraq?
