Staples Removed!!!!

Featured Replies

Pete (MrRk) and I went to Lexington yesterday and the doctor removed all of my staples from my heart surgery (57 of them)!!!!!!!! Some of them had embedded into some tissue and those were not pleasant to have taken out but they all came out and I am sooooooo glad.

I have a place on my left leg at the very bottom and a place on my right leg at the very bottom that there is some dead tissue but we have some stuff to take care of that. So hopefully when I go back in a month I will be healed up and released.

The doctor told us that I could ride in the front seat and drive a car whenever I felt like it. I had waited to hear this and I will have to tell you that when I did hear it, I was scared. So I rode in the back seat when we left the doctor's office but got in the front seat and rode home after we stopped for lunch. I'm going to wait until Pete comes home from work and I will take the car out for a little run to see how I do. I can't believe that I am this unsure about driving.

I slept from 9:30 last night until 8:40 this morning straight through, in a bed, without waking up once. I can't tell anyone how wonderful a mattress feels after sitting up in a recliner for so long.

So now it is time for heart rehab. I am excited about starting this becaues it will just make me stronger. I can't wait for the day that I can go back to work. I know that it will be a while but I cannot stay in a house 24-7 and I was working part-time before my problem. So I plan on continuing with some kind of work to keep my busy.

Great news RebelK, I am so glad to see that you are doing well! Mrs. OR went to have her staples out on Monday, the doctor delayed it untill next week, said that there was still some bruising around the incision and he wanted to wait and make sure that all was healed better.

Why were you not allowed to ride in the front seat?

Why were you not allowed to ride in the front seat?

After heart surgery you aren't allowed to ride in the front seat of a car/truck if it has an airbag on the passengers side. If the airbag is engaged there is a possibility that it will crush the chest. Since the chest has just been ripped wide open and is still pretty weak, you don't want to take put yourself in that position to hurt yourself further.

They are the ones that tells you not to ride in the front seat (with airbag) or drive until they give you the o-kay.

YIIIPPPPEEEE!!!!!

I really think you should post that picture that you sent me. I would really give a great mental picture of how awful getting those things removed must have been....I noticed some places that were kinda scabbed up....boy, I bet that really hurt!

You are a tough lady!

That picture of my left leg didn't do it justice. When it was first done it looked horrible and it hurt like heck. Then I had three cuts on the right leg and then my chest had about an 6 inch cut in it.

I am not good at posting pictures but you can if you wish. When you do post it, please inform everyone that my legs don't normally look like this. Normally they are quite slim, no freckles and always tan:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You know I could have saved you an office visit, I always wanted to remove staples....Glad to hear things are progressing.

:sssh::lol:What I thought was funny is that you sent it to me with the title...Wedding pictures!!!

Any way, ok everyone, Rks leg is normally small, tan and has no freckles....the surgery changed just this one leg!:sssh: If I were a man...I would think you leg is just foxy!!!!

Anyway, lets give this picture a try!
