June 12, 200818 yr The Cubs were fine with Reed Johnson in left when Soriano was out before. Edmonds is hitting .280 since joining the Cubs. I think they will be fine. It won't be as big blow as some think I don't think it will hurt them as far as the division. The Central is not a strong division. What it could impact, however, is their World Series chances. You just never know how long it will take to come back from a wrist injurty--Big Papi's injury has me worried for the same reasons.
June 12, 200818 yr Not trying to be picky, but it is his hand, not his wrist. It is a minimally displaced fracture of the left fourth metacarpal, which is located under the fourth finger on his left hand. I'm not an orthopedist, but that sounds better than what happened to Derrek Lee.

While he'll lose some strength while he's in a cast he should bounce back quicker than a wrist injury. Not great news from the Cubs but I'd rather it be a hand injury than a wrist injury. :thumb:

A couple of questions for you Cubs fans. 1. What area(s) do you feel the Cubs need to improve before the trade deadline and what moves do you feel will happen? 2. With the NL Central playing the AL East this year, how in the world do the schedule makers not schedule a BoSox- Cubs series? :irked:

I listen to and read a lot of Cubs stuff and it seems that CC is the guy the Cubs are going to really go after. And for the record, the NL Central is the toughest division in the NL, not the weakest. The Central has 4 teams at or above .500, plus the only 2 40 game winners in the NL so far. NL east has 2 teams at or above .500, and the NL west, the weakest has 1 team over .500

I'm sure the Indians would start requesting super young talent that are the highest rated in that little thing the baseball experts have, forgot what its called, like Josh Vitters or Tyler Colvin, SMarja (sp?) and the Cubs would probably offer something with Pie, Murton, Sean Marshall, or Cedeno and they will likely meet somewhere in the middle, like a big producer in AAA like Murton and one of the really young guys. Of course this all depends if the Indians are out of it
June 12, 200818 yr But the Cubs are built to win now and I can easily see them going for broke to end this curse this year. They are worried about the Present than the future and I'm completely ok with that!They will def make a big move though
June 12, 200818 yr The Cubs signed Ben Broussard to a minor league deal. Not a bad pick up for the Cubbies. He's played some OF, and should give them a good left handed bat off the bench if they decide to bring him up.
