Has Anyone Ever Been Convinced to Change Their Vote Because of BGP?

Featured Replies

Just curious. With all of the candidate-bashing that goes on here, I was wondering if anyone ever changed their mind because of something they read here on BGP that gave them pause. I enjoy the P&R discussions, but how many of us have really changed their spots as a result of reading through them?

Actually in 2004 I changed my mind and voted for George Bush.

Plz...for God's sake. Stop reading BGP til November!;)

I think you have it pegged right this time around.

There are certain posters I give a great amount of respect to when I read their posts. They are knowledgeable and refrain from name-calling and other bashing. I don't know that I've actually changed my opinion completely, but I have modified some positions after reading those posters thoughts.

There are others who are scathing, resort to name-calling or consistently try to defend their positions by attacking other positions. Even though I feel some of those posters are knowledgeable, I can't get past their "style" to seriously consider what they're saying. I find myself stubbornly disagreeing with them regardless.

I have to agree.

You see how politically saavy my BGP conservative friends are. :creepy: Don't let them lead you astray again. ;)

I have returned from the Dark Side!!! :D

You'll never go back.:D
I hear you.:thumb:

I have never changed my vote as a result of anything on BGP. I have learned the differing sides of many political issues, and been persuaded by one or two. I recall actually being convinced to change my thinking about a religious issue involving Jesus by something that 02Ram54 posted about a year and a half ago.

If you only knew the POWER of the Dark Side...!

(at least, if you believe all of the "conspiracy theories" from the left) :D

Great post, Rockmom. I agree entirely. :thumb:

:thumb: Agreed. And I will try and limit the name-calling. :jump::jump:

Seriously, though, I have changed quite a few of my positions. For example, the argument about banning smoking in restaurants. I never thought about it, but I initial thought was that it was a good thing. After reading the thread (specifically HHSDad's and Hearsay's argument, I think) I changed my mind completely.

And those in which I do not change my position, from seeing the other side I become stronger in my beliefs.
