Great game by the Colonels. Congrats to Highlands for their season and best of luck to the seniors.

 

I was hoping Max would pull Nichols early (as in after 3 maybe) in hopes of maybe using him later, especially with a rainout possible, but according to Max it was discussed in the meeting that a rainout day does not count as a day of rest.

It did not appear to me that Nichols had his best stuff today, but being the great pitcher he is, he found a way to gut it out and make quality pitches when he needed to in order to get big outs. Also, plenty of offensive support today for him as well allowed him to not have to be as sharp as I've seen him in the past!

 

Tomorrow could be dangerous though for Cov Cath, if Dixie's bats continue to stay as hot as they have been the past couple of games!

Never and I mean never have I seen a HHS player(s) act like that and it truly shocked me.....

 

The biggest question for tomorrow game isn't whether CovCath can hold Dixie down while pitching either Isler or Nutini, the real question is who can keep CovCath down now that Matt can't pitch the next game! Big drop in pitching from Matt to the other Dixie pitchers, and that isn't meant as a knock on the other Dixie pitches, but a tip of my hat and praise given to Matt.

Dixie is going to have a tough time with CCH since, as tog said, Dixie's other pitchers are not on the same level as Matt. I know who will be throwing tomorrow for DH but won't post it because even though it doesn't really give CCH any real advantage I'm not sure Max would want the name of his regional starter out there right now. But I will say the kid who is throwing has a good young arm and hopefully he can stand the pressure.

I would not say they have no chance. Dixie is hitting the ball well as seen today off of a good pitcher in Towles. If you hit, you have a chance. But if you want to say they have no chance and take the pressure off Dixie then by all means go ahead!!!

I agree completely stat. Hopefully I will get to see it all but the chances are small. My little brother has 5th grade graduation at 7:00 so I would have to leave at 6:40ish from the stadium. But best of luck to both teams and GO DIXIE!!!!
