Bruce Called Up By Monday?

Are you kidding me? Although I agree with the fact that Dunn, Jr., E5 and BP need to step up, I don't think that this kid is gonna have the weight of the world on his shoulders. I mean, the Reds are in the cellar, no one in their right mind is predicting him to be a savior. I actually agree that if he plays well he may provide a "spark" to this flat team. But to infer that he's anything more than a kid with a shot in the show is silly, IMO.

Very well said SD.

I was responding to the statement that he could be the spark to get the team on track before it's too late. That's souds like someone has expectations. I do recall a couple of outfielders that came along a couple years ago, Mantle and Dimaggio? no Dunn and Kearns. Loads of hype about those two. I think we all know how that worked out:rolleyes:

Have you been reading my posts? I've been advocating bringing Bruce up for a week or two ... Patterson and Freel's presence on the roster are no reasons to keep Bruce in Louisville.

There's nothing wrong with bringing up Bruce and keeping Patterson around as an extra outfielder, especially with some of the other dead weight (Hatteberg, perhaps Valentin) on the roster.

No, I haven't been reading your posts. I prefer quality posts, not the childish bickering that goes on between you and GT.

Hatteberg is dead weight? He's currently hitting .184; however, he only has 35 AB's that are not from pinch hitting. Admittedly, he's a poor pinch hitter and needs to be in the everyday lineup. The guy is a .273 career hitter and has done well at the dish in Cincinnati (he hit .289 in his 1st year & .310 last year). Hattberg is a solid vet - although Votto is the future. Hatteberg isn't dead weight, he's just not being used in the right role (and understandably so).

Hey, the bickering is one-sided here ... I'm the one that keeps getting attacked.

I'm trying to do "quality posts" ... but my views and ideas seem to offend a few here.

Yes, he is dead weight. Hatteberg's stats have been a GABP-created illusion the last two years.

So GABP makes your average go up as well?

He will be way more productive than those two.

Here are Hatteburg's career numbers:

To keep the thread on topic, I would love to see Bruce brought up and Patterson DFA. Votto got a chance this year and has essentially put Hatteburg on the bench. I would like to think Bruce could very well do the same thing if given the opportunity.
