I have seen Raceland play on a few occasions. I thought they were strong in center field. Don't worry. Nobody takes that guy seriously.

Thank you Uncle Jed. I should of not let that bother me. I think it got my old man temper flairing. He claims to be a Ram but has managed to bash the team, coaches and now individual players each and everytime he has got on.

 

Bluegrasspreps was set up to my knowledge to talk about the teams in an encouraging way. Most of us strive to discuss strengths and weaknesses of the teams in a postive manner. It gets my goat when suscribers get on here and take pot shots at the teams, coaches and players.

If Heineman doesn't pitch against Raceland, win or loose Logan should be run out of town on a rail. You HAVE to win the first game to get to the region. Logan knows that. He'll at least start Heiny on the mound. If it looks as though GC will roll, then he will probably take him out.

 

Also, GC probably isn't ecstatic about the draw, but I don't think they're worried either. They know they have prepared for the Rams. However, the two best teams are playing each other in the first round. As I've stated in other threads, that's just not right. GC should be the #1 seed, and Raceland is definetly not #4.

Lewis Co. doesn't have any pitching. They can hit it, but their defense is average at best, and pitching is not very good.

Remember we are talking about the District here, I'm just not sure that Raceland is better than LC. I might be wrong, I guess we will find out this week.

They could be. They have a solid team, too. What I'm saying is you gotta win the first one. Saving Heiny for LC or Russell would be idiotic. As long as you win the first game, you go to regionals.

 

I'm also saying that not seeding is unfare. There have been a few times in 63rd District play (not just baseball) where the top two teams played each other in the first round. That's what a blind draw gets you. Could you imagine Boyd and Ashland playing each other in the first round? That would be great for the rest of the region. Seeding should be a KHSAA mandate, especially when you are talking about a one-and-done situation. Either seed EVERY district or come up with a different format.

I believe Lewis Co. is better than Raceland. I thought you meant 2nd best team in the region. They are, in my opinion, the 2nd best team in the district.

I think that seeding should be put in and used due to the fact some coaches don't play to finish good in the District they just wait for the Districts, if seeding was in they might try to Win to improve their record!

Predictions:

 

61st: Semi- Bath over Fleming, Rowan over Menifee

Final- Bath over Rowan

62nd: Semi- East over Elliott, Morgan over West

Final- East over Morgan

63rd: Semi- Lewis over Russell, Greenup over Raceland

Final- Greenup over Lewis

64th: Semi- Ashland over Fairview, Boyd over Rose Hill

Final- Ashland over Boyd

 

16th: 1st Round- Ashland over Rowan, Greenup over Morgan, East over Boyd,

Lewis over Bath

Semi- Greenup over Ashland, East over Bath

Final- Greenup over East

 

Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just bored!

Obviously G.C. is the favorite in the region and they should be but I dont see them "steam rolling" through the region. The 16th regional tourny is always competitive and I think there are serveral teams that can match up against Greenup and pull off a possibly upset; East, Ashland, and possibly Raceland in the first round of districts. I think G.C. will beat Raceland but there is a chance for the Rams to win if Wilson is on his game and Raceland can manufacture a few runs of Heineman. It is baseball people, ANYTHING can happen. All it takes is for one pitcher to be on and the opposing pitcher to be off his game for one night and its a whole new ball game. Good luck to all the region teams and hopefully everyone gets out of the tourny injury free. I will be rooting for the Rams and crossing my fingers that they pull off the upset tomorrow night against the Musketeers!
