  1. I've also heard this... Anyone know why Mickey Marshall is leaving?
  2. I'm going with Greenup because of experience and better bats. But I definately think Lawrence will make it interesting for them.
  3. Run it they did...kind of sad that the team's head coach didn't even have the authority that his assistants did.
  4. Feltner deserves it in my opinion. He's been Keeton's assistant for at least 10 seasons or more. I have a lot of respect for him.
  5. I like the current playoff just for the reason that a team has to have more than one good pitcher. In the past, if a team had one dominant pitcher, he could carry them on his back pretty far. Now teams either need two dominant pitchers, or an offense good enough to make up for the lack of one.
  6. If he IS going to Lawrence Co., then why would he tell people he's leaving because of his new child? Could that just be an excuse to go somewhere else, perhaps somewhere he has more "say so"??
  7. Predictions: 61st: Semi- Bath over Fleming, Rowan over Menifee Final- Bath over Rowan 62nd: Semi- East over Elliott, Morgan over West Final- East over Morgan 63rd: Semi- Lewis over Russell, Greenup over Raceland Final- Greenup over Lewis 64th: Semi- Ashland over Fairview, Boyd over Rose Hill Final- Ashland over Boyd 16th: 1st Round- Ashland over Rowan, Greenup over Morgan, East over Boyd, Lewis over Bath Semi- Greenup over Ashland, East over Bath Final- Greenup over East Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just bored!
  8. Definately a judgement call by the umpire.
  9. At the high school level, if a kid does something that justifies him being thrown at, he should never even have another at bat in that same game. The coach should pull him and explain to him why, whether it be for his actions or his own protection. I realize everybody's opionion of what "justifies" being thrown at is different, but I think a lot of kids getting hit can be prevented by coaches stepping in and providing more discipline. Now if it is a coach vs. coach conflict, address it after the game. Don't require the kids to do your "dirty work". I realize there are unwritten rules in this game, but I for one know I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I injured a kid just because I was mad at his coach.
  10. I'm sorry, but I don't think any one or two eighth graders are going to make or break a team. Make them learn the patience it takes to make it in this sport.
  11. So far, its been pitching and defense. Both have been awful. But they are working on it, and they'll be just fine by the time it really matters. They always are .
  12. Yes indeed. They were state runner-ups in '84 and '87.
  13. You are correct, PRP and Harrison Co. owned the 90's. With Harrison winning it in '93, '97, and '98. PRP in '94, '95, and '96. And not to mention the '92 team at Harrison had two Mr. Baseball winners on the same team! (Shon Walker '92, Dion Newby '93). I wouldn't have minded to be Mac Whitaker that's for sure.
  14. "Best team" is tough to pick. So many good ones through the years. The PRP teams from '93 to '96 were as good as they got . They were just a victory away ('93 state final loss to Harrison Co.) from winning 4 state titles in a row. Scott Downs (Blue Jays) was almost unhittable in '93 and '94.
  15. Rose Hill actually has some good young players believe it or not. They need experience and direction. Not sure how much of either they will receive however.
