Harlan County at Knox Central High School August 22nd 8pm.

 

So us KC fans will be the first to get a look at this team. Great. Should be a good test for both teams and one of the few pre-season scrimmages that help both teams. I look forward to seeing it.

I have been out and about talking and rubbing shoulders with some supporters of the Black Bears and just wanted to say how proud I am of these county people. I didn't fully understand all the work and effort that has been taking place and all the things both little and big that are being done. I can't go in to details about all the stuff taking place because I wouldn't want to cause any slow downs because of a remark on here. However, I think it is important to note how all these people have come together for the good of the youth in Harlan County. Some of the things taking place are amazing and some BIG projects are being tackled at this time. The support is outstanding and I AM PROUD TO BE A BLACK BEAR!:dancingpa

"The Harlan County School Board voted Thursday to name the Harlan County High School football stadium in honor of late superintendent Needham Saylor."-Harlan Daily Enterprise

 

 

I say we get a name for the baseball field, softball field, the track, shoot, we can even name the concession stands or the press box. Just get to work on it! At least it sounds like another move in the right direction. A wise man came up with a great idea of calling the whole sports complex, The Harlan County Coal Miner's Memorial Sports Complex. It thought that would be very fitting.

Naming the field and the stadium will be two different things. Like naming the Gym and the floor in Basketball. Maybe it can be Needham Saylor Field in Miners Memorial Coliseum. Maybe Coliseum is too much but I like to dream big, Miners Memorial Stadium sounds good to. The soccer, baseball, Softball, and tennis courts will be all together maybe that can be the Miners Memorial Sports Complex.
