May 13, 200818 yr For both of you, I think the All-Defensive team awards are extremely flawed and often given to the same handful of guys every season because no person really thinks about it when watching games. I have seen all of these guys torched by competition on many occassions. My two favorite teams in the league are San Antonio and LA, so I am cool with who always makes the list :thumb: Ding-ding-ding...you're 100% correct. I'm not saying these guys aren't deserving. They're all good defensive players, but I think many times guys live off a past reputation created earlier in their career. Like you, I've seen them all get torched. It doesn't matter how good you are on defense, guys like Kobe, Lebron, etc. cannot be stopped by any player in a one-on-one situation. As for the Bowen vs. Kobe argument...Bowen may be a consistently better defender because that's his primary focus for the Spurs. Little is required of him offensively. Suppose Kobe was the 4th or 5th option for the Lakers on offense (ignoring how insanely good that team would be:lol:), and he could focus the majority of his energy on defense and shutting someone down...I think he'd be much better than Bruce Bowen.
