That Delaney kid from Ashland could be alright if he gets bigger.

How did the Elliott kid do at Ryle this year? I know he went 2-4 in last night's championship game against NCC. I know he was a tremendous football player on the freshman team this past year and was wondering how he looked playing baseball.

How about that freshman from Carrol County that transfered to Beechwood?

 

That would be Zach Larimore. He has a very strong arm but needs to work on his defense and his bat. There was a lot of hype from the Beechwood community about him but I personally was not impressed, but he started at shortstop for a good amount of games for the Tigers.

Larimore has an absolute cannon over there at short...he didn't look so hot when he came in to pitch though.

Larimore certainly has a nice arm but struggles with control while pitching.

Travis Norton from Bishop Brossart. This kid can play. He is a great left handed pitcher who also starts in Center field for the Mustangs and he can also hit. He is a stud.

I suspect that Larimore's poor pitching performance may have been due to the fact that he hasn't pitched since an April 9th varsity win against Bellevue. After the win, he developed an inflamed elbow and had to be shutdown from throwing for a good chunk of the season.

Bertke? Is he playing JV or Varsity?

 

He plays all 3 .He hit his first high school home run,straight away center, Saturday at Beechwood in the freshman tourney leading to a run rule of Cov Cath .He came within about 10 feet of another down the line .He then was given an intentional walk his last time up .

IMO that is a little unfair that a kid plays JV and Varsity, then comes down for the freshman tourney.

If you are not a full time starter or play alot I see nothing wrong with it .He played mostly JV and freshman .He got a few appearances with the varsity .There are those teams that have sophmores start full time at the varsity level and if the varsity is off they come down and play JV .This also happened in the JV championship last year .

If you START FULL-TIME as a Soph/Frosh on VARSITY, you should NOT be playing any other division (JV/Frosh). JMHO!

I'll assume you are referring to Cov Cath? Because I am 100% certain that Ryle, who won the JV championship last year, never had a single player on that JV team that also played on the varsity. This year they moved up 3 JV players to varsity - two who now start and play full time on varsity and one who switches back and forth.

 

And actually, I'm not aware that CC did this either. I could be mistaken, but at most it involved one or possibly two players, if even that.
