May 1, 200818 yr Unless the victims are attractive white females, the networks don't give it any play. It's the Lacy Peterson way of doing news. I was going to say about the same thing. If the victims had been female, this would have been all over the news...Its the same old story...men can take care of themselves theory. A lot of men will not report spouse abuse, rape, crimes, etc because they think they will just get laughed at and nothing will be done. When I worked at a spouse abuse shelter, we had all women...until, one night, a man was brought to us by the police. He had with him a three year old little boy. I was the only counselor (yes, we were all females) that thought we should take him in. Everyone said that he deserved it...he should have been able to fight her off, etc...I told the officer to leave him and his son. I was hated for that...I mean, really hated! When I did his intake, he said that he could have faught her off and did so one time...he was put in jail for defending himself and his child. This was a hard case. The judge and social services wanted to take the boy. I told them that as long as they were at the shelter, they were fine...I was not going to let this child be given back to the mom. If that would have happened, the husband would have gone back with her and no telling what he would have done to her. It was a fight and battle, but, in the end, he got to keep the child and they got a divorce. So yes, men do not get the help or the news coverage that is needed. If more coverage was going on, who knows, maybe the killer/killers could be caught...or, in the very least, young men would know what was going on and be more careful.

I understand what you're saying, but if a sniper shoots 5 people it's the number 1 story and its totally random people. This could possibly be a network of killers w/ close to 100 victims in 10 years. How many families and police agencies do you think are recounting every story of a young person who died accidentaly in a body of water?

When Lacy Peterson went missing, the FBI reported that there were seven black females and four men (all races) abducted and reported missing during the same time frame. Do you remember any of their names? Better yet, can you give me the city where they were reported missing from? It's a sad double standard that TV media embraces all too often.

I hear you and it is sad. I just think if there are possibly 100 or more college kids dead and it's a group of people doing it this should be huge news. Like there should be profiles and a national man hunt going on. Thank the lord that these 2 NY police officers are investigating this on their own dime.
May 1, 200818 yr In an effort to get this thing publicized, I wonder if they are giving out to much info. If I'm a gang member and I want to dispose of a body, I simply put it in the river and draw a smiley face somewhere. Could lead to a number of copycats.

These people are sick, twisted, and some of the smartest criminals. They study their victims and throw the cops off by planting evidence. I doubt a gang in the midwest will try to copy cat this. They may throw bodies in a river, but they aren't sophisticated enough to copy cat this. These cops brought this info out ot try to find more victims families and to keep other college kids safe.

Because it's not like gangs use some of their drug money to send people to college so they will defend it's members in the court of law... wait, no, they sometimes DO do that. I wouldn't rule out copycats. I'm not saying the copycats would copy in the exact same manner, but I don't think organized crime would be too disorganized to pull it off.

No offense to some of the gangs out there, but these people are supposedly picking out young white men w/ a GPA of 3.5 or above and raping and killing them. That's not most gangs M O.

That's not most gangs M O. Very true. But I wouldn't be surprised if they at least attempted to throw off the CSI's by putting the smiley faces or whatever, no matter who the victim is. At that point it'd be easy to say "this is a lazy attempt at a copycat killer so it's not the same one" but maybe some of the investigations haven't gotten that far. I mean, I don't doubt that there are a number of white college-aged kids involved in gangs/mafia and whatnot, so it may not that cut and dry to tell the difference... except the rape part, that'd definitely be a significant difference. Eww. But while I do DOUBT there's a copycat killer(s) I also doubt the killer(s) was responsible for over 100 murders.
May 2, 200818 yr Hmmm...I wonder if BGP could figure out the motive and who did this...more than one person? 1. They are all young college males. 2. They all have high GPA's. Are there other FACTS that anyone knows about the victims.... About the killer/killers. 1. They leave smily faces. 2. They rape the victims. Are there any other FACTS about the killer(s)? Speculations.... 1. The killer(s) are male. 2. They have something against young college male students who are intelligent. Questions. 1. What is the age of the killer(s)? 2. Race of the killer(s)? 3. Motive? 4. Why only college males with high GPA's are tageted?
May 2, 200818 yr What I have thought of.... The killer is around age 20-30. He had a father who left home when he was very young...or, the dad never lived with the family. His dad was very smart and had a college degree. The killer was raised by his mother who was poor and not a great role model...where the dad would have been very successful. The killer is getting back at his dad through these young men...he is living out his fantasy of getting even with his dad never being there for him and never giving him anything. He was abused by the only parent, his mom.
