The Bush legal team was the one that filed suit more often, including to the US Supreme Court.Didn't Gore request limited recounts of heavily Democratic precincts in the belief that would give him the best chance to steal the election? Gore apparently was not interested in having every vote count, just the votes for him. Had Gore immediately requested a statewide recount, would not the whole recount controversy been avoided?

Not initially did Gores legal team do this. They didn't need to because per state law, all counties were required to recount. I'd have to check, but his team may have filed suit to include what are known as over-votes on optical scan machines. Example- Looks like a bubble in sheet. Person would bubble in Gore as the choice and also write Gores name in underneath. No question who the person is voting for, but by state law, those votes were thrown out. Those optical scan machines in Florida were located mainly in Democratic counties, and mainly in heavily populated African-American districts. The Gore request of recounts only in heavy democratic counties came after Bush filed an injunction on 11/11/00 to stop recounts only in heavy democratic counties. Bush then appealed to the Fl. Supreme Court, who ruled for the recounts to continue, and then appealed to the US Supreme Court, who eventually ruled for the recounts to stop.

They other counts had Bush too far ahead to be overturned by count errors. Everything is up for debate. That's why this site exists, thank goodness.
April 30, 200818 yr He couldn't win his home state in 2000... I would welcome a Goron nomination by the left... Me too. I do find it interesting, make that amusing, that things have deteriorated so badly that Gore is being referred to as a white knight. If Gore is offered the spot, one has to be worried about it splintering the party so badly that it will take years not months to re-unite it.
