I want say they need to improve, but I know the defensive line has big shoes to fill with the loss of some key kids up front. Plus they will have to replace the Metcalfe kid on offense and IMO was great in doing what they needed him to do. He made the their QB's life easier.

The will be solid and should contend for another district Title.

Franklin has alot of improving to do, they were an easy out for Harrison County last year in the second round. They have huge shoes to fill on the D-Line but have two Really good kids already there, 6'4 270 Watkins at end and 275 lb, Aaron Mayes at tackle. They return 3 starters on the o-line as well. As far as skill kids go they have a talented group returning With Stiles, Hicks, Robinson, Connor, Jackson, Thompson, Meriwether the return of slot reciever goins who was out last year with Mono. Jackson could be one of the best backs in FC in a while with a little work and will be a nice compliment to a Bigger stronger Robinson. Hicks and Conner are very gifted in the receiving dept. The biggest problem FC faces is commitment of some Jr's and Sr's the kids in these classes are talented but not setting the world on fire as far as hard work goes the Junior to be class is very small with only a handful of kids But has some great kids such as Gardner LB, and Damian Hicks at Receiver, and Thompson the QB. The coaching staff is all back and has had a few new additions which will help. FC will also be playing in front of a new stadium and press box this year. FC will need some of its young players to step up, they have some nice sized young lineman who can get it done if they come to work.

Look for Oakley Watkins to be the leader of this team.He is a winner like former Qb Ammons.I look for him to be another of the overachievers that Coach Ledford has coached.I think most of the players at FCHS learned a valuable lessen about preperation and confidence after their playoff loss last year.this could be the best recieving corps in years and Robinson will pick up where Metcalf left off.Line play is the big Question mark.

Big Oak Tree will go to work and so will Hicks. I think Stiles will have to step up big time for the offense to be very successful. Anyone have an idea how much stronger the younger Watkins kid is getting?

Most fans don't know that last year Deron Hicks had more catches than Colton Riggs the year he recieved all the hype and Kevin Stiles had more than Shane McDonald from the same team, and equaled his TD total while playing the "Y" instead of WR.He (Stiles)also played the whole season with a broken wrist, and is healthy now.:thumb:

If Thompson can come along and form a good timing with Deron Like Colton, Shane, and Kaelin, the flyers will hit on all cylinders this year, still alot of work to do. That would allow Deron to get alot more YAC.

The Flyers will have the best group of skill players since "The System" was put in. The lineman are the only question but I expect the younger kids to step up to the challenge and make the best of their chances to play.

How well do you feel that Robinson will fill Metcalfs shoes?

Hard to say for sure, but Robinson is very talented and tough.I wonder what kind of rotation FC will have to keep him fresh. He will need to rest for a few plays on one side of the ball or the other.Maybe Conner or Jackson will share time on offense?Who would be the one to rest him on defense?I personally think Big Willie Smither and Barnett are the hardest shoes to fill from last year.

I thought Smither could have been last years MVP of the team. You just don't see that many kids that are that athletic playing on the line, where games are truly won and lost.

Strong statement!...... But I totally agree! Because of the knowledge of the system by these kids, they will out perform more physically gifted kid because they will be more technically correct, and their chemistry is definitely better than most.

Franklin County Coaching staff put on a nice clinic for the Youth Football league Today, There were only a handful of coaches there, but they learned something maybe it will grow a little next year. I hear the food was outstanding. The Flyer Staff has really made an effort to get involved in the Frankfort Feeder system.

Little pre-mature for a statement like that on paper they look to forming up nicely, but I remember just how good those past groups with Riggs, Mcdonald, Wise, and oh yeah..... Ammons.

This is a great thing that will pay off dividends far down the road in the future. How long has Franklin done this? More HS coaching staffs should.
