Well played game for Cov Cath beating the bluebirds in 5 innings

The CovCath good;

 

Now tell me CovCath oldtimers, when was the last time that you remember CovCath pitchers throwing not only back to back shutouts, but back to back 1 hit baseball games. Well then, have I a game for you...

 

Ryan Sainloa in his outing against rival Highlands, throws a complete five inning game of shutout basebll while giving up only 1 hit to the second last batter of the game. Sainloa faced only 16 of a possibe 15 batters in his complete five inning outing while striking out 4 and walking no one. Sainola didn't allow a single Bluebird batter to hit the ball into the outfield even for a out, as the single was a hard come backer to the pitcher that was hit sharp enough that it came off his glove. I wanted to call it a E-1 but fair is fair. BTW Isler gunned down that runner when he tried to steal for the third out of the game. Other than that hit, the only other HHS batter reached base via E-5.

 

WOW two outstanding pitched games by CovCath hurlers back to back......

 

Zach Isler hit a HR (380 #3) just to the left of the 380 mark sign on the left center field wall. As hard of a hit ball, that I have seen in a long, long time with a wooden bat. If Ice hits that pitch with a aluminun bat, no telling how far it would have gone. Isler did a outstanding job behind the plate today, giving Maile the second game off from behind the plate. Not many teams, much less HS teams have a great catcher, but to have two, who can both can hit, and both are first rate catchers is indeed rare.

 

Ryan Darner had his usual great day at the plate going 2 for 3 in this game and driving in 1 and scoring two. Love watching this young man hit the ball into JDville time after time.

 

Matt Klein sophmore pitcher, now starting Right Fielder too, proves he can not only can pitch but can also hit too. Matt goes 3 for 3 with a walk and scores two runs. Good job young man.

 

Another game where everybody played tody, and that is so important to keeping everybody happy, and in these games. Doing this really helps give some of the backups some experience and as was the case of Krumme on Thursday keeps them ready to play when needed.

I forget to mention, that it was nice and fitting indeed that during the CovCath vs. Highlands game today, the CovCath announcers asked for a moment of silence for the young HHS student (Mitch Waldenmeyer's) who passed away Thursday. While CovCath and HHS are huge rivals, I know that if the need arose, the students, parents, teachers and fans of the Bluebirds would be there for CovCath as they were last year for one of ours. Mitch will be in our prayers this Sunday at Mass.

Who pitched for the Birds?

 

To be honest, I do not know. It wasn't Towles and I am glad it wasn't, as I watched him pitch in the game earlier that day against Scott (Kenton) and that young man throws some heat and good stuff.

Meunch started the game for the Birds. Covington Cath. was too much for the birds to handle today. All around they looked solid ( offense, defense, pitching). Big homerun from the first baseman.. Isler? and a very nice pitched game by Sanola. I have only seen him pitch a couple times in the summer and as a freshman, but it seemed like he was throwing harder and having better control as the game went on. Nice win by Cov. Cath, good luck the rest the way.
