Louisville Field Trip

Featured Replies

Coming to Louisville in mid May on a field trip with about a dozen 4th and 5th graders. Most of the trip is planned, but we need a good place to take the kids on Friday night for dinner.

I would like to take them somewhere they would have a good time. What would they enjoy?

We will be coming from the fairgrounds area.

How about Hooters?

I don't know when Oaks day is, but we will be there on the 9th and 10th.

Yes spending the night.

And I don't think Hooters would get the nod from the mommies tagging along, although I know several 4th and 5th grade boys that would probably be in favor.

Back to the question at hand, where should we eat dinner Friday night? We're staying near the fairgrounds right off Watterson.

Unfortunately most of my favorite Louisville places are not kid friendly, so others would probably be able to give you better ideas.

Right at the fairgrounds there really isn't anywhere I would suggest going. All the places that I'm listing are away from the fairgrounds

For the kids to have a good time maybe I would suggest the food court at the mall, lots of choices and the kids would probably enjoy window shopping.

Another idea would be Gattiland http://www.gattiland.com/louisville/index.html Tumbleweed on the River, or Marks Feed store(BBQ).

I'd second Gattiland or ChuckE Cheese, but they've probably been to ChuckECheese maybe not Gattiland and Gattiland has a buffet and group/field trip discounts and you're not far from the outer loop location.

Near the fairgrounds the only thing I can think of is the Cardinal Hall of Fame Cafe http://www.halloffamecafes.com/cardinal/ but nothing for kids to do but eat and look at the displays, good food but pricey for a group/kids

There's also a Cracker Barrell there, a Beef o' Brady's down in Central Station if you'd rather have wings and stuff but also more of an adult place

You could eat at a regular restaurant then take them to Puzzles fun dome

but they don't have food http://www.puzzlesfundome.com/main_site.htm

Doesn't have to be near the fairgrounds. I just wanted to put that in so you'd know what side of town we would be in.

We may just do a simple dinner and hit the rooms and let them swim, etc.

We are already doing the science museum on Friday and then opening day at the Ky Kingdom park on Saturday, so maybe an understated evening would be best.

If your Staying around Preston HWY there are alot of different Resturants up and down that highway. What about taking them to the Louisville Slugger museum?

Places that I think they would like:

The Old Spaghetti Factory

Incredible Daves

A Family Adventure

Hard Rock Cafe

If you want more, PM me, and we can talk in more detail.

You could also go to the Louisville Science Center...

Joe's Crab Shack would be the best place, IMO....fun for families....very kid friendly.

I was going to suggest Joe's Crab Shack... fun, festive, and kid friendly. If it's nice weather, you can go out on the patio and watch boats along the Ohio River.

Incredible Dave's offers decent food and a lot of fun that 4th and 5th graders would enjoy. It's fairly new, but I've heard a lot of good things.

Incredible Dave's is the perfect place for 4th & 5th grade kids in Louisville, also the zoo would be great this time of year! If the Bats are in town that would be another option.
