April 9, 200818 yr Golf. I can give my child 1-2-3-how many needed strokes per hole and both of us play to the best of our ability. In baseball, I can't pitch as hard as I can. In basketball, the size difference let's me dominate. In, tennis, I cannot serve as hard as I can. But in golf, it can be even. My tee boxes are moved back and right off the bat with my daughter I can give her a stroke per hole while with my son 3 strokes per hole and they both can very easily beat me. NOT TO MENTION, it is a great time to just talk with them. Out in nature, it is quiet and great time for talks. Plus, you can walk and both are getting exercise. I have played a lot of different sports with my kids and nothing matches golf in the positives it brings with doing things with your children.
April 9, 200818 yr It depends on the child's age and ability. When my children were younger and we would take them out it required a LOT of patience. We moved very slowly and therefore had to constantly let others play though. It always makes me nervous to have people behind you waiting.....so I would get a bit frustrated. When they were teenagers and had a few lessons under their belts, that was a different story. I agree, fresh air, the beauty of nature (including a deer or two) and quiet time with the kids. Can't beat it.
April 9, 200818 yr Unless you have a membership it's a really expensive family outing, especially for multiple kids.
April 9, 200818 yr Author Unless you have a membership it's a really expensive family outing, especially for multiple kids. World of Golf in Florence has a Sat evening head of the family outing. Parent pays full price, everyone else pays 1/2 price. My family of four went for $20. I cannot take them to the movies for that price. Plus, it is a par 3 course mainly so good distance for young kids. State parks have child golfs free in the Month of May. Juniors can be inexpensive if you go to the right course. You can walk 9 holes with you and your child for around $25. BUT, also, you can go to the putting green and have putting and chipping contests for free.

Use what ever club you chip with and the ball has to land IN the hoola hoop. Get 3-5 depending on the size of your yard and you can have 3 holes of different length and they are practicing one of the most important aspects of the game.
April 9, 200818 yr Doing anything the kids like is good. Baseball, basketball, golf, fishing...anything they like. The important thing is just to be spending time with them.
April 9, 200818 yr Snow skiing. You get to spend time talking on the chair lift and then you can enjoy heading down the slope and it doesn't matter what the difference in ability may be. Then you get back on the chair lift, enjoy alittle chit chat and do it all over again.

April 9, 200818 yr Good thread LBBC. My dad and I were playing together when I was 7 or so. I think I started having to give him strokes when I was 14.
April 9, 200818 yr Well our son is age 3, and he is in love with all sports but baseball is the best when it comes to all of us playing with him b/c he is actually very good at it and will play for hours at a time, so great exercise as well.
