He is weak on economy and she does not help there.

As I just pointed out in the new thread I started about Greenspan's endorsement of McCain, Greenspan is not all that worried about McCain's "weakness" on the economy. If Greenspan can live with McCain's "weakness", so can I as Greenspan has to be one of, if not the, most knowledgeable persons on economic policy in the world.

Is the African-American vote even relevant for the Republican party?

I would prefer someone from Ohio, Florida with a strong background in economics. Rob Portman springs to mind. Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't Crist from Florida.

I don't think the African American community in general supports Rice. Supports her probably a bit more than Clarence Thomas, though. If it were J.C. Watts instead, we might see a difference

I think the GOP would get a boost from both African Americans and women, especially from Black women. I also think moderate women would prefer Condi to Hillary.

I think it's great. You have a guy running for Bush's third term possibly teaming up with one of the architects of the blunder that has been the Iraq War. Bring it on.

Any statistics compared to Barack Obama? I'm sure some of those numbers would swing his way.

She would make me definitely not vote for McCain.

I think it would be a colossal blunder on McCain's part to select Rice as his running mate. Here is a person who has been in Bush's inner circle for his entire administration, an administration which "enjoys" approval ratings in the basement. Most Americans are fed up with Bush and this would rub off on McCain if he picked a Bush disciple to be his VP candidate. The Democrats would have a field day equating McCain to Bush and using this as evidence.

I think Rice would make a good VP, but the timing is wrong. Rice recently admitted to being "mildly" pro-choice, and McCain's support among conservatives is already soft.

 

With Obama running for the top of the Democratic ticket, selecting Condi would smack of a me-too, affirmative action pick. I would rather see Rice elected to some office before she runs for VP. Based on the primaries, it looks like the "black vote" already belongs to Obama.

 

McCain could broaden his appeal among conservatives and among Asian-Americans by selecting Louisiana's governor, Bobby Jindal, as his running mate.
