Keep an eye out for 6'3 Sr Dom Johnson of Holmes. I've spoke to several of the Holmes faithful as well as Wimzie and Henley and all have said DJ is a player to really watch out for.

 

He was one of the top players in nky as a freshman but has had to sit behind the likes of Austin Hill and Arrez Henderson the past two years. At this point he's expected to start over Housely which just goes to show how good the kid really is.

BTW, Have you heard anything about Highlands over the summer? I heard both Kowolonek and Grote had very good summers and Grote should really step up big time this year for the Birds and make a huge impact.

Arkansas is a Junior at Newport. Both he and Brandon Tucker will be on the Wildcat roster. Newport has the potential to be very dangerous this year.

Highlands will be good enough this year to surprise some people. Kowlonek is a top 10 player in the region and they have some solid role players in Grote and Watson who can score in double figures any given night. Also the addition of a few football kids will help with their depth and allow Willie to do more things both offensively and defensively.

 

I'm not saying they will win region, because as you eluded to Holmes and Boone (somewhat) look to be much further ahead of the competition, but don't be surprised to see Highlands as a top 4/5 team by the end of the year.

Why wouldnt he play? He was a dominant force last season and has potential to be a college player. This makes no sense.

I would have to say that Ryle is now a definite dark horse to win a lot of games in the 9th with word out of homecoming that Kurt Russell is back with the basketball team. This will give Ryle a huge frontcourt with Nichols and Russell at the 4 and 5. Combine that with an experienced PG in Ahern and two very good Juniors at the 2 and 3. The one place they will suffer is depth.
