March 27, 200818 yr I have a 5k in a couple of weeks and need to get a new pair of running shoes. Any suggestions on good ones to try? I have been wearing Nike but the middle of the pack (price wise) aren't very good. I love the upper end shoes but don't really want to spend $100 or more on a shoes. I have tried New Balance and they ate my feet up. Some Addias aren't bad but they are kind of the same as Nike as far as the mid to low pack shoes. Any suggestions on a good pair that won't cost me an arm and a leg?
March 27, 200818 yr threetimelover, You may know of the store in Nashville that is strictly for runners, is it Fleet Feet? Anyways, we went three weeks ago. The sale people do not pressure you, they measure your feet, watch you run, provide advice, and let you try on about 4 or 5 different pair of shoes depending upon how you run and what your feet are like. The shoes in the store are nice and run from $90 - $120... really cool store with personal service. We determined my running shoes are perfectly fine. They are Asics. I cannot think of the number, 8120 or something like that. What I did purchase were a couple pair of really nice socks that help with sweating, they are awesome. Like $10 a pair, but well worth it, I assure you. I am doing the Half-Marathon in Louisville in a month, anyone else doing it? Woods, if you are not going to Fleet Feet and just your local sporting goods store, I would recommend Asics.
March 27, 200818 yr Asics are the best...IMO My son averages 40 miles a week and he will only train with Asics Trainers. My suggestion is to pay the extra dollars and buy a shoe that will give you the best support. It will be well worth the extra dollars to prevent any future injuries.

I am suppose to be up there on the 7th for a meeting so I may try to get by their store.
March 27, 200818 yr I have some $40 dollar Saucony shoes that I run in and they are very comfortable. I only run about 2-3 miles at a time though.

I usually run anywhere from 3-7 miles at a time. Just depends on how I feel or what I am trying to achieve. Some times I don't run that far but do HIIT instead. I guess I just have sensitive feet. I had a pair of Nike Max Turbulence that I got on sale for about $90 and absolutely loved them. I never had any issues with my feet while running in those. The pair I have now are a cheaper pair of Nikes and that are like night and day. I have had nothing but problems since wearing them.

It is well worth your time. I am not sure about the one in Louisville, but in Nashville, the sales people are all runners and recommend a type of shoe based upon how you run and your foot. I cannot stress enough the socks.

I bought a couple pairs of nice socks a few months back and you couldn't be more right. It is like night and day when I wear them versus a regular pair.
