I guess I need to go re-take geography of the U.S. because when did Guam become a state?

Two more points:

 

1. I always wonder how many Sweet Sixteens someone has been to when they suggest its abolition - usually it's none.

 

2. There will never be any new chapters to Hoosiers - so in Indiana they had a system good enough to inspire a fantastic story and movie, and still managed to throw it away.

 

I always wonder if there is anyone from a school with no chance of winning a state championship with the current system, who if for leaving the current system the way it is. What is wrong with at least two sweet sixteens? you don't have to water it down like football has, but 2 state champs would be great.

Kinda find it hard to imagine that 47 states get it wrong and Kentucky, Delaware, and somwhere else are the only ones to get it right??? I think the setup needs to change and hopefully it will.

 

 

 

There is about 15 states that flat have it wrong. As there is LESS than 2 million in the entire state. Why have 3 classes for 100 high schools?

Very happy that Kentucky has just the one class. It's rather fun to go through the Sweet Sixteen program and see all the enrollment differences in each team.

There are only 178 or 179 districts.

I agree 100%. IMO, we need to have a state championship for each class. It unrealistic for the small public schools in the state to dream of a state title. The days of a player like Richie Farmer leading his small rural school to the title are over.

You still understand my point. I probably should've used a better example but I think you still get my drift.

 

Harard and Paintsville did make it to the Sweet 16 but neither had a chance to win it all. That was my point. Schools almost treat regional championships like state titles because a state title is just too unrealistic in basketball for most kids to dream about.

That's what the All "A" Classic is for, plus you still have a chance to play in the state tournament.

I think what he is saying is it doesen't happen very often. It is a great show to watch in its current form , but not to many have much of a chance as it is. If you look at the sweet sixteen history you can see it's pretty obvious the odds are not very good. Two schools have won six titles, four schools have won four titles, three schools have three titles, and eight have two titles each.Then there are some with one title. You can also see by the game scores that there are far more blowouts than close games. In the last two years there were four games won by four points or less. I don't care how they play it but you have to know most teams odds are not good.:thumb:

No team's odds of winning a state championship are good. That's why it's so special.
