How many players does Mason Co. grad. this year, and will they have a chance at repeating next year?

 

They lose Darius, Trevor, Jackson, King. While Middleton, Downing and Hamm will be seniors next year, they will still be a VERY young team.

 

I think expectations will be high as always, but just winning the 10th would be a big accomplishment. I can't imagine next year's team being on the same level as the top 5 or top 10 teams in state.

It's tough to win one, let alone repeat. Mason is loosing a lot of great talent. Next year will be rebuilding. Should be a good fight in the 10th. Clark seems young and developing.

 

Anyway, big congrats to Mason County. Been a fan since back in the early 80's. Was there to watch this weekend, and had a great time. Mason has a great fan base.

Congrats to the Royals. I think Darius Miller's name should be engraved on that trophy. HE was huge for MAson Co this year and without a doubt the best player in the state. Without him we'd be talking about someone else as KY State Champ.

I know you can't replace Miller but I sure like Masons chances of repeating in the 10th next year with the returning upper classmen and the younger group who I am sure will really improve over the summer. I had the oppurtunity to see the Pawset kid play at the Georgetown Bluechip camp last summer. He is a rebounding machine. I did not get the chance to see every team up there but I thought Pawset & his teammate the Sizemore kid from South Laurel were two of the best 9th graders at the camp.

Against Holmes it seemed every time they would get a bit of a run started Miller would step up and come through with a big basket or play,especially in the second half. I think he actually scored 19 of his 23 in the second half and appeared to score a lot of those of the block with single coverage. I wonder why Holmes did not either deny him the ball in post area by fronting or doubling the post since he scored so easily when he caught the ball in that area. O well, Just thinkin out loud. Congrats to the Royals. You had the best player and the best team at the tounament.

I was around when South Laurel won theirs a few years ago. Pretty fun. The next-day pep rally (following the parade through London on the fire truck with the trophy) was, I believe, where the singing career of Roscoe Denny made its first public appearance.
