March 16, 200818 yr With the Stock Market an the Housing Market the way it is. Where, if any is a good investment these days?Several very good sectors, to be investing in. I would strongly encourage you, to consult with your Broker. In conjunction, do research on market trends and determine, your risk willingness and then make a decision.

March 16, 200818 yr Tech stocks are up and down but it depends on what tech you want to invest in. Right now is a good time to get in on the ground floor for "green" stocks. Solar, wind and the like are going to go up in the next few years. At least I'm optimistic b/c I'm going to have some money riding on it.

Solar, wind and the like are going to go up in the next few years. At least I'm optimistic b/c I'm going to have some money riding on it. I have been watching "green" stocks because that is the future, but am just not sure about putting any more money in the market right now. I am looking for something els, something a small invester can make a little at, the market as a whole right now I want to stay away till it hits bottom.
March 16, 200818 yr Author Several very good sectors, to be investing in. I would strongly encourage you, to consult with your Broker. I am willing to risk, maybe that why I have been losing so much, Thanks.
March 16, 200818 yr Is that advice...or a disclaimer? Yes.... My Broker says "pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered". I often use that philosophy, when choosing my own. I have been getting killed by the market as of late. I am willing to risk, maybe that why I have been losing so much, Thanks.Find a fund to put some money in. Look at the cyclical sector. Certain tech stocks, are affordable right now.
March 16, 200818 yr The overall state of the market should have no bearing on whether you decide to invest or not UNLESS you're nearing the point of needing the money. Good companies don't suddenly become bad companies just because the market goes down. Find a source of info that you trust and simply find good companies with strong management, strong financials, strong growth forecasts, and a price that's not currently too high. Those companies are there in the down markets and they're there in the boom markets.
March 16, 200818 yr Never a bad idea to look at stocks that pay a decent dividend, as that dividend still gets paid even in down markets. :thumb:
March 17, 200818 yr Am I wrong in thinking this would be an excellent time to buy rental property if you can get the loans? Looks like you could buy cheap and there should be a lot of renters since they can't get loans. It seems like it would be a great time for me. Am I missing something?
March 17, 200818 yr A fixer-upper might be a great investment. Buy something off the foreclosure market. Plan on flipping it a year from now. You could see a nice return. If the RE market is still in a slump a year from now, turn it into rental property until you're ready to sell. Gold's at a record high. The stock market could go either way in a hurry. Really depends on the strength of the dollar. Foreign stocks are another possibility, especialy Asia. Besides a good return, a stronger dollar could mean a bigger return. Rare coins can be a great investment if you have the patience and time. My best investment was a rare coin. 17,000% return.

If you have the money to sit on it till the market goes back up you could make a pretty penny.
March 18, 200818 yr Muscle Cars. Rare guns/machine guns. I am not joking. The initial investment is large, $25-$100,000. Why? There is a finite number made/being restored and there is always a market.l

It might be a good time to buy rental property, any time would be if you have the time an money that it takes to take care of them. I have a few an good renters are hard to find. I work a full time job an we have been very busy an it takes up most of my free time to mess with my rentals.
