Bottom line: you can't win many games with only 49 points in 36 minutes of play. Why only 49 points? South Laurel's defense.

South will definitely be in the mix next year. I think they lose one starter? I may be wrong.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. He played a pivotal role in the win. I think he could have dominated the entire game though.

 

Does South lose a lot this year? St. John has two years left after this one. Is it possible for them to win 6 straight?

 

They lose Jones, Bortnem, Duncann and Jordan Price.

Corbin should be the favorite. They basically return everyone except for Cashen and Rogers, I believe.

South has some nice young talent coming up, but they won't be the favorites.

Clay, Bell, Middlesboro, Lynn Camp, Harlan Central and North should have good teams.

Les also picked Jackson County over South. Make that 3. LOL

Yeah, being the pre-season favorites don't win championships. :-) March should be fun next year, as well.

Great Job South, the guys in stripes had nothing to do with this game. Down the stretch the Cards played tough defense and 31 took over. Corbin took some bad shots when they were up by 8 and 6 in the last four minutes. They played like they were down.

Was this the championship?

We scrimmaged both and I thought Corbin clearly ha2d the better talent even without Crawford not playing.[/QUote South Laurel at this time in the season is not the same team they were in preseason. The only consistent starter from last years team is St. John and playing with the three big kids his role was limited compared to this season Today South has a 6'8'' post player surrounded by 4 kids that are all very athletic, all can shoot the 3, slash, handle and defend with a years worth of consistent playing time and experience. They also have 3 or 4 kids that come off the bench that have consistently played substantial minutes all year that oontribute heavily. No real superstar but when you add how well coached these kids are they should win a lot of games.

If I am up 14 with 6 to go I pull the other team out of the zone and make them guard me one on one when my team is quicker. The key is to win not by how much to get a monkey off of my back.

Congrats to South Laurel. Hounds had some players really tighten up in the last 6 minutes when they got up by 13. Players make plays...South's did that down the stretch, Corbin did not. Missed block outs, going under the ball screen 20 feet from the basket by St. John's allowing Bortnem good looks and then not knowing where Dean was were big plays. Turnovers proved to be the fatal blow. 20 times in a game will get you beat everytime. Hounds were only able to get 8 attempts from the FT line While South made the trip 24 and connected on 21. 11 points in the OT were from the line. Good luck to the Cards next week at Rupp. Hounds get to watch from the stands again this year. The smarter team won this game tonight.

 

I would not throw the Coaches under the bus just yet Dogman. I am sure there are alot of schools that would be pretty happy with 2005 regional Champs, 2007 and 2008 regional runner ups with back to back 24 and 25 win seasons. If South were not in the 13th Coach P might have three regional titles under his belt....not too shabby IMO.

Bubby one problem with what you said. South is in the 13th now and that is the way it will be. We never seam to learn from past games on how to win. The coaches have got to take care of this. He also had the best team in the region in 2002 and 2003 and did not win the region then and there was no South then. He has two more good teams then hold on it will be a few years after that.
