Watched the first half on Wazoo sports. Looked like Corbin had taken control. I switched to the 11th region final for its second half.

 

I surprised at the final score.

I agree that their were a lot of missed calls...ON BOTH ENDS!!! The officials let the game get physical and that is fine - it's high school basketball - toughen up or go home!

 

I think Corbin was playing the last 3 minutes "not to lose" rather than to win. There is no way they should have lost this game, but hats off to South for fighting back.

 

I thought St. John played awful until the end of the game. His defense really affected the Corbin inside game during the end of regulation and in OT.

 

St. John had seven blocked shots ... guess that doesn't mean a thing, huh?

I am not saying this in a bitter way and I do not mean to upset anyone by saying this ... I really think Corbin was out-coached in the three out of four games against South Laurel. That's not putting Corbin's coaching staff down, it's just giving Wright and his staff their proper respect.

South Laurel will not be denied in big games like this.

 

Great game! IMO, South even when behind by 13 or 14, never looked rattled at all, they didn't get in no big hurry just did what they were coached to do in this type situation. Corbin made way to many turnovers in the first half, at one point 8 of 9 trips resulted in a turnover otherwise they could have been up by 16 or so at the half . Shot selection in the last 4 minutes really hurt in the second half. Good play with 4 seconds to win the game Crawford just couldn't get all the way to the rim, but it should have never came down to needing that shot. South sealed the deal in the OT with their excellent freethrow shooting. Good Luck to South once again in the state tourney.

Also, I am not saying that is the sole factor in the Corbin loss tonight--just one.

I would say four of them were at the end of regulation and during OT. I said that to show how vital he was to the comeback.

IMO Wright and staff when given time to prepare can out coach most staffs in the state to at least give their team a chance to win. And by the way St. John is a real game changer inside and only a soph. the 13th sure could put together a real solid soph. all-star team.

Corbin's big run came when St. John was on the bench with two fouls. The big guy is a huge factor in that awesome 2-3 zone. I don't know how many times Corbin players thought about a shot tonight but did not take it. Someone made this observation on the radio (paraphrasing): In the fourth quarter, Corbin seemed to hestiate whether to be aggressive or to be patient and make the extra pass. Many times it looked like they second guessed themselves whether to take the shot or make an extra pass.

I saw Rosco (Roscoe) Denny at a few of the Corbin games.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. He played a pivotal role in the win. I think he could have dominated the entire game though.

 

Does South lose a lot this year? St. John has two years left after this one. Is it possible for them to win 6 straight?
