There are so many good seniors graduating from the 11th this year. I think it is way to early to predict who things will shape up a year from now. These kids have at least 2 other seasons to play before Oct 15th (AAU and Summer ball). It will be interesting to see how all the young players develop and mesh into the remaining returning starters.

That is a tough schedule, but not near as tough as most in the 11th. With Scott Co and Catholic playing nationally ranked teams, along with every top team in the state. Also i know that even another mediocre team, LCA, played the number one ranked team 6 times, and something like 12 of their losses came to top 20 teams. Im not saying Franklin co. wont be good, its just a tough place to play in the 11th.

SC will probably be a stronger team next year, as everyone on the squad will know and understand their roles. This didnt always seem to be the case this year.

 

Catholic graduates a lot, but they always reload.

 

Mack and Combs are big losses for Station. I cant remember if anyone else is a senior on that team.

 

MC, TC, and Dunbar are always going to be right there in terms of talent and you can never count them out.

 

Franklin Co. very well could have one of the top teams in the region. They will probably be a top 5 or 6 team in a region that is losing some great players. Don't set them up for failure with this thread though. I really cant see them winning the 11th next year. You would think if someone says someone WILL win the 11th next year, then they would automatically be mentioned among the state title contenders as the 11th is one of the toughest regions in the state. I just dont see FC getting mentioned in that way.

Agreed Bellalumni 40. It is pretty bold, but maybe the Franklin County squad will take it as a challenge.

 

This is probably off thread a bit, however, the rest of the state looking in should be thinking that next year is a reloading year for all of the 11th. There are a lot of great players graduating this year. Sparks, Morris, Mack, Novosel, Smart, Stewart, Moses, Hundley, Portwood, Webb, off the top of my head....it is wide open for some young guns to step up.

Franklin County players and coaches have to continue adapting to the style, pace, and toughness of the 11th region. They showed great improvement against SC in the regionals. They may not be the best, and certainly will never be considered as so until they prove it. They will be and/or should be a good team. They showed alot of growth late in the season. Keep working hard you Rodneys of the 11th region. Good things often come to those who in this case, work the hardest.

Basketball is not a sport where hard work alone is going to win you the 11th region. Hard work can improve certain skills SOME. You can improve your shot quite a bit and game I.Q. and team chemistry. You are not going to work your way into much improvement in height, speed, quickness, and leaping ability as much. Teams in the 11th you are competing with are blessed with a lot of the things you can't work on.

But what you have to understand Rho is that Franklin County isn't a year in year out kind of program. They've won the 11th 3 times spaced from 15 to 20 years.

For Catholic to be as good next year as they are this year they will have to get impact transfers.

Burdette is also graduating for Station and he is another big loss for 3. Also, a couple of other decent non-starting players graduating(Larry Johnson). Station returns Ashford and Morones. Their JV team was not so good this year. Freshmen team is pretty good.

I agree with Scott Co as always being a team to beat. Lexcath is going to lose a lot after this year, but they are always a team people like to beat. As Fanofthe11th posted, without a major transfer next year they will not be as good. Dunbar has a good team, and Coach Hutchison has done a great job, but they have done nothing in the last 11 years, up to now, to deserve a "year-in-year-out" status, and I am have been a Bulldog fan for that time period. The last significant team I remember during that time period was the George Baker, Scott Hundley team. I put Dunbar in the mix with all of the other schools in the Region including Franklin County, and some years you draw cards and you get a few aces.

I read a quote from PLD's coach that he returns four starters next season. If that is true I would put Dunbar as the team to beat.

If I were ranking today, taking into account this year's successes, not knowing how teams will develop, newcomers...yada, yada, yada, ....I would rank them:

 

Dunbar, Scott County, Franklin County

 

but I admit to not knowing as much about LCA so sorry if I am under-rating them.
