Even though the thought of an old man or woman french kissing any one, let alone a young child, makes me sick I think they really need to think this over before making it a law. If a young man or woman over 18 kisses a person 17, would that person be labeled as a sex offender? I'm not saying I'm not for the law, I just hope they think of everything before signing it into law.

In other words, once someone is 16 they can have sex with anyone they please and there are no laws against it for either party.

Otherwise, you'll have a whole new slew of people labled as sex-offenders for life, when they are young and stupid. It's one of the problems I have with the current KY sex-offenders laws. And, with the restrictions some communities are making on where sex offenders can live, it's insane that a kid who makes a mistake when he or she is really young will never be able to live near a playground or school for the rest of their lives.

I agree on most of your post, but I would be curious to know the percentage of sex offenders that are , say eighteen to twenty-one. Maybe I'm wrong but I just feel that most of these men and women are usually in their thirty and forties, fifties and sixties. These are the ones that are never allowed to live close to schools and such.

Some who are on the list are in their late 20's, and committed their crimes when they were in their late teens. I read an article recently about a kid who is 17 and can't go home because his family lives down the street from a school. His "crime" was inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor. But it was consensual, and he was 16 at the time. She was 13. She suffers no consequences. I don't know the percentage, but I do know that such a broad, all-encompassing statute can't be just in cases such as these.

I certainly agree with you on those situations. :thumb: Heck thier teenagers. In the case you stated, was it the girls parents that brought the charges? Sounds like parents that didn't want their daughter dating but she was going to do it anyway, so this was how her parents took care of the unwanted boyfriend.
March 11, 200818 yr One concern I would have is the age of an adult. If it is a 14 year-old and a 13 year-old, that is not going to be enforceable. Is an 18-year old at a party and the 13-year old looks older and says they are older but aren't older, is that a sex offender worth offense? I definately think the bill should have an age minimum. Under age 12 with someone over age 18.
March 11, 200818 yr How would someone prove, or even worse, disprove that it happened? Think of all the unhappy young girls who hate their new step fathers. It is one thing to cry rape, but some girls could easily accuse a man of a french kiss. There are plenty of savy young girls who would do something like that, even under age 12. How would you possibly defend yourself? There would be no evidence.

At 16 years old you are supposed to be able to consent to things like that.
