March 9, 200818 yr I know that everyone has probabl tried to solve the Rubik's Cube and many have not been able to finish it. I recently bought my first cube and have watched many, many different videos on YouTube on how to solve it. Earlier this week, I came across a set of videos that made it pretty easy o do. I made my first solve the other day and have been wanting to time myself doing it so I could see exactly how fast I can get it done. I just finish my first spped solve and it was only 4:51....some say that's not bad for a first time solve but I'm not satisfied with it. I know that with some practice and a better cube, I could get it down to under 2 minutes and maybe under 1 minute. If I can get under 1 minute then I'll be satisfied. I ordered my firsy DIY cube for spped. It's where the cube come unassembled and you put it together and can set your prefered tension and even use cube lube to get it to spin quicker. So with all of that said, can any of you solve a Rubik's Cube? Below are some interesting videos that I've watched over the last few days that I thought were pretty neat. Enjoy! 3 Year Old Solves in 114 seconds
March 10, 200818 yr Author Somehow I just shaved exactly a minuteoff my time. My news fastest is 3:51. I've got a long way to go but it's really fun solving this dang thing....LOL.
March 10, 200818 yr When it first came out,I bought a book on how to solve it...I took the cube apart, sprayed the inside with WD40 and reassembled it...my best time was just under 4 minutes.
March 10, 200818 yr I can solve one, but I have no idea how long it would take. I used to be able to do it in about a minute and a half or so, but that was more than 20 years ago. I recently got another cube and started playing around with it. Took me a while, but I eventually remembered all the moves to manipulate the cube.
March 11, 200818 yr Author I just got my DIY speed cube in yesterday......which is amazing that it came this fast. The eBay seller was from Hawai'i and it got here from there in less than four days. The reason why I am surprised is because the seller's page said it would take 3-4 business days to arrive after the payment went through.....well I paid instantly on Friday and it arrived on Monday.....definitely have to give rave reviews for that.....lol. When I start putting it together, I'll take pictures on my camera phone to show everyone what the inner workings of a cube looks like.
March 11, 200818 yr Author I've assmbled my DIY cube and it's SWEET!!!! It moves MUCH, MUCH smoother than a Rubik's Cube. The first time I scrambled it and then solved it, I had knocked my time down to 2:38.75 so that's a difference of about 40.5 seconds...not too bad. Anyone else ever solved a Rubik's Cube?
March 13, 200818 yr Author Been just above 2:40 for a couple days now. My ultimate goal would be to get under 1 minute. So with the little response that this thread has gotten I take it that nobody has been able to solve a cube? j/w
March 14, 200818 yr My physics teacher brought one in and did it in about 2 or 3 minutes, then his son did it in about 4 minutes. They are both very smart, to say the least.
March 15, 200818 yr We had a guy is HS who was really quick. We would hold him down between classes, and he had to solve it to get to the next class. I thought he was under a minute, but you know how your memory can be sometimes.
March 15, 200818 yr Author I'm currently trying to learn the Jessica Fridrich Method....it's much quicker. There are over 50+ different algorithms to remember for that.
March 15, 200818 yr Author For some reason, all I want to do lately is to get my time down. I probably do 30+ solves a day....lol. I just got 2:18.18....a new personal best. Getting closer and closer to getting under 2 mintes. Once I learn the Jessica Fridrich Method, I'll be on my way to being a decent speedcuber....lol.
March 16, 200818 yr Author I am really loving this DIY cube. My new personal best is 2:01.45. I'll hopefully be getting under 2 minutes. If I can get really, really fast, I might thik about trying to get into some Rubik's Cube tournaments. One step at a time though....lol.
