The game was delayed getting started last night because NO brought the wrong uniforms. For how many years has it been that the District winner plays the District loser in the first round of the Regional. THE DISTRICT WINNER IS THE HOME TEAM (most of the time that is the WHITE uniforms).:lol::lol::dancingpa

Why did they delay the game because of this? :confused:In most tournaments, if your team is not on the court and ready to play at game time, it is a forfeit. What is the grace time in the 10th region tournament, and what exactly are conditions that allow for a delay?

I'd think things like unable to get to the venue because of a major traffic situation or something would allow for a grace period, but to bring the wrong uniforms to a regional tournament game, that's well south of embarrasing.

If I were Walton coaches and administrator's I'd have to hear some awfully convincing testimony as to why the game was delayed and not forfeited. Especially, as Scout mentioned, district winners have only been the home team in first round regional games forever.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to open up a JFK type look at this, but I really would like someone in the know to explain what happened and why North was not penalized.

In a thread that has turned into one with many posts critiquing officials, I'd think this would have more discussion than some half jokes. I guess it's easier to second guess very subjective calls that referees make in a split second, than and why this happened and what the correct protocal actually is in such an instance. :thumb: Does Henry County keep their uniforms on stand-by annually for any team in this circumstance?

One hell of a season for WV. Congrats to the Seniors. They got to experience something I did not my senior year. And nearly pulled off a first round upset. The future is bright in Walton.

Congrats to NO.

As fair and as rule-based as in might be, I would NOT want to "beat" one of the best teams in the region with a forfeit. The "victory" would be tainted.

They had Gallatin's uniform tops on at first and if it would have been forfiet or play in those there would have been no delay.

Their jersey's showed up with about 2 minutes until the delayed tipoff, the coach opted to leave Henry County's jersey on their players because the official book with names & numbers had already been signed by the officials. Therfore it would have been technical fouls for each player that played in the game. Walton should have objected from the get go, they stood there waiting at the edge of the court, not allowed to go and just shoot around or anything.

Coach Bennett is not like that as everyone should know. Sometimes too nice of a guy. IF I were the coach we would have started the game on time, shot a few free throws to begin the game.

North Oldham had Gallatin Co's jersey's on when they first warmed up rather than start the game with a technical they would have worn Gallatin's jersey's. I personally saw Gallatin's AD bring the jerseys back to the Gallatin Coaches who were setting close to me.

Why?

If team A is smart enough to wear the correct clothing to an event and team B is not, shouldn't team B be penalized?

This is getting cute.

So let me get this straight, they had one other teams jersey's on and traded them in for another team's jersey's. Why?

Did the Henry County jersey's fit a bit better than the Gallatin jersey's?

Sounds to me like the only team penalized by North bringing the wrong uniforms was Walton. Why couldn't the Bearcats at least take the floor and have a shoot around during the delay?

I think The Scout answered that question, Walton's coach is to much of a nice guy and doesn't want to create any waves.

Tournament officials would not allow either team to enter the court of play.

This is getting cute.

Gallatin's uniforms might have been a little sweaty? You can laugh all you want this is true. Besides if I am a coach or player I want to win the game by being the best team on the floor not the team who caused a fuss over a mistake.

Absolutely penalize them. But if I am team A, I want to beat them because I was the better team that night, not because of a "forfeit". Walton-Verona almost did just that.

I believe the officials were Sandlin, Asher and Camacho. It would be their responsibility to enforce any infractions of the rules. With all their experience, they should have stepped-up and made a ruling and not left it to the discretion of Coach Bennett. It looks like the officials blew this from the very beginning. Maybe they didn't know what to call or what to enforce any technicals for illegal uniforms. Bottom line: it was their call, not Walton's.
