Final according to the KHSAA site

Was this the lowest point production ever in a Ninth Region Girls Basketball game by a team? I went through the KHSAA.org site and this was least points scored by a team that I could find (for the Ninth) through the years of 98/99 to the present. Is this the lowest ever?

I guess this is what Newport, Dayton, and Bellevue were looking forward to.

In talking to football coach Zach Deaton, this is the first time that the Lady Greendevils have made it to the regional tournament. Let’s see how they did against Notre Dame.

 

1st quarter: Notre Dame came out firing as they held Dayton scoreless for the first 3 minutes of the quarter while adding 15 points themselves to ahead early. The Pandas would extend the lead to 16 at the end of the first quarter. Brittany Hall scored all 4 points for Dayton. Notre Dame led 20-4.

 

2nd quarter: More of the same as Notre Dame dominated the game. The scoring by the Pandas was spread out among many players. Dayton really couldn’t get the ball inside. The lead was pushed to 30 with 3:39 to go in the half. Dayton scored their first points of the quarter with 1:15 to go on a Sammy Powell jumper. Brittany Hall made it back to back goals for the Lady GreenDevils with a minute left.

 

3rd Quarter: Dayton went to a zone to force the ball outside. Halfway through the quarter, a total of 6 points was added to the scoreboard. That’s when Coach Darpel replaced the 5 starters. The lead increased to 37 with under a minute to go and that’s how the quarter ended with NDA up 51-14.

 

4th Quarter: Notre Dame really slowed the pace in the final quarter. That really didn’t help Dayton’s cause. Notre Dame made it a 39 point game with 2:39 to go and it was just a matter of how much it would be. The game ended with a 52 point victory, 69-17 as Notre Dame will face Boone County in the 9th Region semi-finals on Friday night.

Of course NCC should have been playing this game; however, this is what their district chooses to do. Your comments are a little bit harsh, but so-be-it. Dayton was certainly over-matched, but the kids didn't seem to quit nor did they seem embarrassed. Remember, they didn't choose the blind-draw...they just came to play.

 

Both games last night were played to conserve energy, avoid injury, and get out with a win.

 

Friday should be two pretty intense battles.

Your right CT. If you gave Dayton the choice to do it again next year they would say absolutely. They played with heart and intensity until the final buzzer sounded. Their fans cheered on every point and supported their team as you would in a similar situation. I tip my cap to the Greendevils for playing a hard yet clean game. Good luck next year.

I feel for the kids, I am sure they did not want to "get drilled" The random draw is an issue but it is not these girls problem. I have read many of your other posts and I know that you are probably just commenting on the blind draw issue.

Gallant effort Dayton on your first regional appearence? The girls from Dayton while this time overmatched, and the luck of the draw discussion beaten into the ground, will always be able to tell their family friends and kids one day that I was part of the first Dayton Girls basketball team to make it to a regional, and by then the score or point totals won't matter a lick!

Exactly correct.

This game last night brings the whole state back to the same old question yr after yr, should the KHSAA make it mandatory for every district to seed the tournament?

 

If the weaker teams wins then so be it, they deserve to be where they make it to by winning a big game. The state is always worried about making the playing field equal well then every district should seed and let the two best come out into the regions. IMO!
