Big difference between being sent generic letters and "courting" too.

 

How big is Phillips?

Last year's program listed him at 5'5"/150. I recently saw somewhere that he weighed in at 162.5 lbs in a powerlifting competition.

I will say again..Phillips is a great athlete and very enjoyable to watch. Has a spunk to him!! I do think he is among the top RB's to play for T....along with several others that could be listed.

 

I don't know if he is big enough to play D-1 and don't really care. I do wish him the best in whatever he decides to do in his future for himself and his education.

In my opinion it boils down to Phillips and Hennessey. Alan was a bigger back relative to that era, probably weighing about 180-185 his senior year. Like Tim he had great field vision, cutting ability and good straight ahead speed. I believe one time against DeSales he touched the ball 6 times and scored 5 TD's. He was a competitor, tough and was poised---the same attributes that I hear Timmy has. Trinity did not score as many points back then as they do now, nor was their offense as wide open, so the numbers might be skewed in Tim's favor if you're looking at sterile stats. Alan got a scholarship to Georgia Tech, and was recruited by Jerry Glanville for the Jackets. A knee injury cut his college career short.

If Tim improves as much incrementally this next year as he has, then I would be prepared to say that he was the best RB Trinity has ever had. He needs to continue to get what he can out of a play and not put the Rocks in long yardage situations. One thing he can do that I don't recall Alan being as skillful at is making people miss.

I hung out with Alan in high school (we dated 2 Assumption girls who were best friends) and I believe he was at least 200lbs. and had great not good speed. I believe he was the best having seen them all.

Believe me, Alan could avoid them if he wanted to, but he really liked running over would be tacklers.

I can't remember which position he played exactly (H I suppose), but Alex Hennessy was one of the best players for T for the years that he played, and I'm talking offense and defense. I cant exactly compare him to his dad, having never seen Alan play, but Alex had some of the best moves and toughest demeanor of anyone I've ever seen.

Alex was fun to watch and one heck of a player. Any ball he touched, he would catch, whether he was on offense or defending. I remember one game he had 4 interceptions, and a couple of td's receiving. Coach Beatty said he was one of the best all around players he ever coached. That's a pretty nice compliment.

His shutdown of 6'6 Donte Smith (yes the one that is in the NBA) was one of the most impressive defensive performances I havce seen. I believe he had 4 picks in the 1st half.
