  1. I think one thing that might not have been considered yet is the interchanging of coaches. By this I mean that even if someone graduates from T or X, that doesn't necessarily mean that they might want to go teach/coach at said school. I'm aware of quite a few coaches from both T and X that "jump ship" and eventually end up at the other school. When this happens, mentalities, schemes, plays get more or less integrated into the other school. I'm not saying it always happens, but if you are taught a certain way then that is how you are going to in turn do the teaching, kinda sub-consciously passing along that info. People from both schools recognize and respect one another's communities enough to realize that ending up at the other might not be as bad as they told us in high school.
  2. I might have dreamed this, but I thought someone said that Duece was still not 100%? That kid's a machine if so, because no Trinity team from the past seven years could have stopped him. I know there were some comments about where some would like him to go, but who is actually shopping for him? Personal opinion, I hope Charlie Weis makes a trip down.
  3. RP- Scoring quickly helps in some situations, but IF the defense gives a large, clock-burning drive, especially late in the game and with the score close, doesn't that potentially give them the advantage? Previous experience and records should be noted, but in all actuallity have nothing to do with the game (i.e. 2003: T 0-4, and X #1). Having only seen the Cincy X game, I have to give a slight edge to the Rocks, mainly because their defense looked flat-out sick! But, only scoring 3 in the first half gives me worries about the O's too, especially considering the historic reputation of X defenses. As always, hoping for a close and injury-free game. Rocks 20-17 on a late stop.:thumb:
  4. Roc- Riverside is right in that no one recently has beaten the Rocks in the months that count. True we may have forfeited the shillelagh for a few years but one of the biggest strengths that Trinity has is that the coaching staff adapts to each group of guys and uses the entire regular season to tailor the team for the playoffs. Whether or not you really think the Rocks will falter this year is one thing, but I doubt the extent of your humility.
  5. I would think the prospect of putting both Will and D.J. in the linebacking core would make any X supporter giddy. I know it scares the crud out of me.
  6. ^What are his specs? The last time I saw him was when he was a fifth grader. I'm assuming he's gotten bigger since then
  7. Riverside- Totally agree with you that 6" 200 lbs is big enough, especially given his other attributes which you listed. I was simply saying that he is not historically as big as other ST. X Backers and if this concerned any of you guys. I know that I would want a kid with his specs. on my team, just wondering if you think he could be put to better use in the secondary as a menacing and tenacious safety (i.e. Brian Urlacher in college). With the D-lines you all put together, the backers aren't always the brick walls of the front 7/8, and against passing teams it might be nice to have someone in the secondary who opposing recievers have their other eye on when coming across the middle.
  8. I could be totally wrong but 6' 200lbs sounds a little small for a St. X backer. That being said I don't question his athletic ability or potential to do well at the position, just wondering if anyone else, especially X supporters, have any objections to him moving?
  9. I can't remember which position he played exactly (H I suppose), but Alex Hennessy was one of the best players for T for the years that he played, and I'm talking offense and defense. I cant exactly compare him to his dad, having never seen Alan play, but Alex had some of the best moves and toughest demeanor of anyone I've ever seen.
  10. Are we saying that Duece has the best chance of being recrutied and playing RB in college? Or that Duece will get more offers overall? If it's the former then I agree he is a better RB recruit. But if it's the latter then I'd say it's equal, just because Timmy can do so much and that might appeal to different types of schools. I'll say it again, comparing the two is tricky becasue they make people miss in different ways. Definitely fun (and menacing at the same time) to watch the two play.
  11. Kentucky Country Day in Louisville has fielded an 8 man team in the past. I don't know if they still do, but I know Trinity had a 7-on-7 with them in the past, and they were extremely competitive with us. I never actually saw them play, but I'd imagine it would be a lot like Arena ball; fast paced and very entertaining. I'm definitely showing my age here, but what is the deal with the multiplier, as in what is it and why is it pushed for so hard?
  12. Comparing Deuce and Tim is like comparing Michael Bush to Reggie Bush. Two totally different running/playing styles. Both play those styles EXTREMELY well, and it will be interesting to see who comes up with the better '08 numbers, but all that being said Tim gets a few more touches (i.e. punts, kick-offs, catches) which I think will be the difference. Sounds biased but I like Tim's chances better
  13. Rocks, but by no more than 10, and sealing it only in the last few minutes.
  14. :thumb: I understand what you're saying, but don't they have the capabilities to reload? 9 seniors would be hard to replace, but there's got to be a reason they're #2 in the country, right?
  15. Riverside-What makes you think that the Rocks will roll against Cincy X? Do they lose a lot of their talent?
  16. I like miragesmack's idea of single-sex schools. Kind of a throwback to Sparta and war schools they sent boys to. Seriously though I've always been one who has said when confronted with the question ", Wasn't it a bummer not having any girls?": Nope. I think it does provide a better learning environment, and give you something to look forward to in college;)
  17. I think maybe the problem is that the expansion of JC is for the moment only moving East and North. I know someone said that we have too many high schools, but if the trend changed and the expansion shifted to the south end, i would make a cry for putting a private school down there. The east end before the expansion and the current south end share a lot of similaritites and I don't see why this could happen in the near future. Just my opinion.
  18. I do also think our numbers play a big role in our success. But, everyone has to run sprints in practice, everyone has to lift in the off season, etc. True having more kids helps in terms of in-game conditioning, but I'm sure most of you all do most of the same things in practice that we do and our talent pool should be a moot point if preparation and coaching were up to our level, with all due respect. I think Coach N is a great coach, but to say that he is as good as Beatty is a little farcical when you look at the past few years and the track records. Also, the feeder programs aren't largely county-wide, but I also know that the Catholic ones dont start in 3rd grade, except for flag football and if we're teaching kids the split 6 and jet sweep in 3rd grade, we all need to take a look at our lives and wonder what went wrong. Those are meant as recreation, and not a training program for young Rocks and Tigers. True, from middle school on there is a little more intense training, but as earlier stated optimist leagues garner some similar competition level and I think should be cut out of this conversation. My biggest problem with this whole thing is that it seems like you guys (RRR and 02) are upset because we have a numbers disadvantage and a strong farm club system. But what is wrong with having all the advantages? Not to say that we earned them or other factors didnt contribute to our momentary monopoly on the rest of the class, but it's like complaining about a guy marrying a supermodel and the next day winning the lottery. I wont call it luck, but if this is the hand we're holding, why punish us for having it? Last analogy: If a kid can bench 305 and run a 4.3 40, should be disallowed from playing cause he's big and strong? I understand where you're coming from but like someone already said we're not going to change the way we do things, but I think we'd all be glad to have a little company at the top
  19. HHS posters-I don't mean to stir anything up here because I'm also a firm believer that numbers aren't everything but feel the need to come to the side of my 502 brethren. That being said, if numbers really aren't the case then maybe HHS should step up to 6A and we really could settle the title chase
  20. Forgive me my ignorance but being in Western Ky puts me out of the loop a bit. Who are the top contenders for the qb spot and maybe some personal analysis?
  21. ^I could be wrong but I think he eluded to Tim being back and possibly helping out at 'X', the recieving position. I dont know about this considering Tim's size, but he definitely has the speed and moves for it. Case in point Tashawn Mcbroom. Although he could be saying that Tim will have help against St. X and wont have to carry the game by himself
  22. All Tell got it right. The NCAA clearly sets 1 and 2 on opposite sides of the bracket with the intention of them meeting in the final. Why not do the same with this.True, you may have a 'George Mason' that knocks off the big boys, but you should allow the teams who have the best record the right to reach the finals that they have earned given their records and level of competition. Sorry to say it, but the level of competition in bigger markets (i.e. Lex, Lou, NKY) is greater than that in the smaller ones, much like the NCAA where the SEC, Big East, and ACC have tougher schedules and in-conference opponents than CUSA, WAC, and various others. Case-in-point, this years 4A where an undefeated Lone Oak team with a record setting QB falls to a tough LexCath team. Not to say the teams from outside of big cities dont have a shot, but more often than not big city teams have regular season opponents that adequately prepare them for the playoffs and the rest of the state.:thumb:
  23. Call me classless, but as an alumni who won all but one game against X, I personally want one of those shirts:D
