Bert Richey. The previous coach at Grant County. Very funny. He yelled at a player to go steal the ball from another player one time...the player was a teammate! I don't know what would have happened if she had actually done it...how would you stat that?? A turnover or a steal??? :jump:

He can be seen yelling some similar one-liners at Highlands games supporting the coach, his wife Jaime, from the stands.

Coaches like Fookes, Doyle & Gilley. Even Richey. All have very passionate styles to their coaching...fans seem to either love 'em or hate 'em, no in between, but very fun to watch!

Bert is an absolute riot to watch. He gets very vocal in the stands and of course he sits about 10 ft from Jaime's HHS team. The other night when HHS played NewCath one of the NC mothers got up from her seat walked down and put a chair next to Jaime's and told him if he wanted to coach the team then he should get down there and sit next to her. Bert didnt say a word to her since she had him by about 50 lbs. What a Classic!!!!!

I'll take fookes anyday

Congrats to Coach Scott Tackett from Rowan County on winning the 61st District as a 1st year "Interim" coach. Can't help but think of Bobby Knight from time to time while watching him coach.

Like too many parents today, that one was way out of line.

Hoops Gal,

Can you enlighten us on what qualities are comparable to Bobby Knight? Just never noticed any Bobby Knight (like) attributes of high school coaches in this area.

Bert is a "hoot". Whether he's coaching or a fan, he's very entertaining.

Judy Mason of Danville, Jerry Hancock was fun to watch as well.

Allen Central Johnny Martin is fun to watch too...
