Bowling Green 61 Warren Central 57

Warren Cent. 4th region dominance comes to and end with a District semi-final loss to the Purples.

BOO-URNS.

I'm inconsolable tonight. I feel like I'm going through the five stages of acceptance. It's been about 2 hours since the game ended and I rehashed the game with those at the game, once I got home, and when I called one of my friends and former Dragon in Chatanooga to give him the rundown on the game. Central played very well in the first half, but in the end it just was not to be their year. They really lacked that strong senior leader that they've had in most years past, and they also were not blessed with the overwhelming talent that they had been. The future is bright, they've got some strong up and comers, and I've got a feeling it won't be too long of an absence from the Sweet 16.

I can't really recall the last time WC wasn't the 4th rep.

Russellville was the last team to win the 4th, aside from Warren Central. That was 2001 when they beat Central 81-72 in the region championship game.

My math is bad, but that would make 6 straight years they won the 4th. Impressive run, congrats to Bowling Green on the win. :thumb:

Six straight is correct, and that's quite a run. Anyone know the record, for most straight regional titles? Maybe this should be a thread and not a post in here.

^ I'd have to dig up some old Sweet 16 programs to be sure, but that's gotta be somewhere at least close to a record.

Congrats to my alma mater!!

GO PURPLES!!!

It is a record in the 4th Region. The previous high for the 4th was five in a row by Owensboro from 1922-1926. Seven straight is the overall record, done only twice I believe. St. X won the 7th Region from 1937-1943, and Clay County won the 13th Region from 1984-1990.

Sorry for the loss, but personally I will be glad to see another representative. I bet the other teams are getting really excited, too.

Its up 4 grabs, and Allen lost which was a surprise, watch out for Greenwood they might win it.

Coming into the postseason, it looked like there were eight teams that had a legitimate shot to win the 4th ... Allen County, Barren County, Bowling Green, Franklin-Simpson, Greenwood, Metcalfe County, Warren Central and Warren East.

It's as wide-open as any region I've seen in a while ...
