June Buchannan School (JBS) lost to Letcher Central in the semi-finals of the 53rd District, 14th Region. No doubt the biggest upset so far. JBS was ranked top 10 in the state at times this season but fell apart against Hazard in the All A. They have beat LCC two times (both close) earlier in the season. Way to go LCC!

I know this game could have went either way in a lot of peoples eyes because it was at Conner and they always play well in the tournament but Boone losing to Conner was an upset.

Southwestern over McCreary Central tonight in the 48th district, 56-55!!!

SW 4-21 coming in, McCreary was 24-4 & the favorite to come out of the 12th Region. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Check the prediction thread. I called this one all week. I had this feeling that Coach Hicks would have his kids ready. At Conner and facing Boone for the 4 time this season, losing the first 3.

This so far has my vote.

Definatly #4 Southwestern (5-21) upsetting the home-standing and #1 McCreary Central (24-5).

I would say the following teams not making region were surprising to me:

15 Pikeville

14 June Buchanan

13 Pineville

12 McCreary

9 Boone Co

6 DeSales

 

I think if Hazard and Corbin and Lincoln Co. don't advance to the sweet 16 the bottom bracket is going to be very terrible especially the quarter that has the 14, 13, 12, and 8 regions. I hope those teams make it because I want to see some good b-ball!

There have been quite a few upsets so far, but luckily all of my region picks are still alive!
